Alex would steal pillows off of our bed to take to bed with him in his toddler bed around that age.  Now he's almost three, sleeps in a full size bed, and noticies if he's misses a pillow off his bed.

My youngest is 4 1/2 and even though he has a pillow most nights when I go in to check on him it has fallen on the floor and he is sound a sleep. I think he was probably around 2 and he was in a twin bed.  I would wait, as long as he is sleeping well. If it is not broke don't fix it.

For teeth, my dentist said as soon as they had some bring them in. It is not so much for the cleaning but to get them use to the idea that going to the dentist is normal. That when when they have to go, it won't be huge drama.

Libby is 12.5 months old and has a pillow.  See, when I had her, via c-section, the hospital gave me a small pillow to hold against my stomach when I had to cough or get out of bed.  The wonderful nurse I had in post-partum told me that a lot of women use that pillow as their childs first pillow.  Just special that way.  So, that is what Libby uses.  When I put her in bed, I always lay her on her pillow.  She usually has nothing to do with it in the middle of the night but that is okay.  It is a small, thinner pillow so I don't worry about it.

As for the dentist, I am actually scheduled for a cleaning in an hour and planned on asking my dentist that same question.  :-)

My nephew is 9 months old and sleep on a pillow (a flat pillow that used to be on his moms bed not a fluffy one). It is in his crib. He actually decided he wanted to sleep on a pillow when he started crawling. We would lay him down when watching a movie or if he was on the floor crawling (to stop him from climbing on things or hitting his head hard if he fell) and he would crawl up on the pillow, lay down, and eventually fall asleep. Now he has his own.

Sydnie uses a pillow...I think she started at 16 months. When she and I would nap together, she started insisting she have the pillow.  She would always wake up in the middle of the night fussing...this stopped once we put the pillow in the crib.  She rolls all over the place, so I'm not concered about her not being able to breathe.  I also have no bumper guard on her crib.

You should take them to the dentist when they first get teeth. Just a "get to know you" visit. They'll then advise you on when to make their check up appts.  They don't do the cleanings until, I want to say 3 or 4. I can't remember. I used to be a dental assistant...you'd think I'd know...but nope, I've forgotten.

Can't wait to see pics!!

I talked to my dentist today and she recommends you take the kids in at age 2 for a meet the dentist appt.  Then, the kids sees them once a year for the next few years, just to make sure everything looks good and there aren't any cavities or anything.  Then they start getting regular cleanings at 4 or 5 (I can't remember what she said).  Also, she mentioned that we should brush their teeth until they are 8 as they do not have the dexterity to clean their teeth good enough.  She recommended we let the kid brush their teeth and then we go and finish brushing their teeth.
