GD testing
Okay, so my doctor was doing the fasting bloodwork to test for GD but today I was told that this testing was not really accurate and they recommend I go ahead and do the 1 hour glucose test. My DH is not too thrilled as he does not want me to have any dumping and be stressed by it. I have different reactions to sugar each time (I am 6.5 years out from RNY) so I am not sure if I will dum*****t.
So my question is, was the dumping THAT bad? Did your doctor recommend anything to help keep the dumping symptoms down?
Thanks for any help you all can give me.

I am not sure what to tell you except I was not willing to chance the dumping. I've never dumped before and was too afraid for the first time to be in front of a bunch on nurses who prob wouldnt know what to do. But remember, you can refuse to do any test you don't feel comfortable with.
Good luck!

I tried to refuse the test and my Doctor told me to stop researching. I told her ok...if I pass out it will be your fault! I took the test last Friday and except for my baby acting like he was on crack (literally he was moving so much it was semi-painful!) I did fine. I just kept thinking "it is a drink it will not make me sick" keep thinking positive! I did have some crazy bowel sounds but did not dump or get sick. I did have a slight headache afterwards but my MOm and I went and had a good breakfast afterwards and I felt fine the rest of the day.
I passed it...just so ya know
Good Luck

Melanie I was was almost 3 years post op when I did the the glucose drink, it was a little hard to get it all down as fast as they wanted but I was able to do it, I thought I would be super sick right away but I wasn't, however after they drew my blood I got shaky and the did dump 4-5 times then I was fine. As long as they get the blood drawn before you dump you are good to go! It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be at all! Hope that helps a little!
