Hello,

I have not had internet at home so I have not been able to be online but got internet Monday due to being put on bedrest.

Back in July I discovered I was pregnant.  I am two years and 7 months out from a RNY.  This is my second pregnancy since the surgery.  We were not trying to get pregnant and we are not exactly in a great position to have more but here we are.

At seven weeks I visited my OB and was very large for my due date so he did a quick dating ultra sound to see if I was further along than I thought.  We found twins.  I was in shock.

At twelve weeks we went for the genetic sequencing ultrasound, I am over 35.  The technician had a surprise for us, there was three.

Tomorrow I am 20 weeks pregnant with triplets.  Two boys and a girl.  I was put on bedrest due to three epidsodes of preterm labor and my cervix was beginning to change at the last hospital visit.  I am tired, bored, and HUGE!  I have already begun outgrowing the clothes I wore the entire pregnancy for my last baby.  They fit in my legs and everything but the waist doesn't fit, too tight, have had to start wearing them under my belly.

I just wanted to say hi, introduce myself and see what was up with the group.

Thank you.

Spontaneous triplets are 1 in 10,000 or so births.  The doctor says it has to do with my age and the fact that I have four older children.  The older you get the more uneven your hormones can be so you can have a major flood of them and have more eggs.  Also if you have had children once you get over 35 your chances of multiples increases.

I am having my tubes tied during the c-section and this will be the end.  This is the first time I have actually felt done, don't want no more, don't want to get pregnant again.

I am sure with all the extra time on my hands I will be visiting the message board often.

Wow...I hope the u/s tech at least told your husband to sit down before imparting that surprise!  Congrats.  I'm glad things are going along pretty well for you.  I assume it's to be expected that nothing's fitting this time around...remember...there are three little miracles in there taking up space!  Keep up w/the bedrest...do all the internet surfing you ever intended to do 'someday,' and chat away here...hopefully the time will fly and you'll be baking as long as possible.

Hi,

I just gave birth to triplets on 8/18/09 two identical boys and a girl!  I made it to 33 weeks.  I was put on bed rest at 31 weeks and I work up until 24 weeks. My babies were VERY HEALTHY!!!  They were in the NICU for 21, 23 & 24 days for prematurity and feeding issues.  My two boys were 4lbs and 4lb 5 oz and my daughter was 3lbs15 oz.  Today they are nine weeks old and the boys are weighing in at 8lb6oz 8lb2oz and my daughter is 7lb6oz.  they for the most part are sleeping thru the night.  We wake them every 4 hours to eat.

I gained 52 lbs...YUCK!

I started have contractions I think around 28 weeks and my doctor put me on Procardia and I was sent a At home monitoring system that I had to do twice a day for an hour.  It monitored my contractions and send the data to the nurse who would then call me and tell me how many contractions I was having, if any at all.

At one point I thought my water broke but apparently my bladder was just weak.  The doctor started the doses of steroids to mature their lungs just in case.  That was at 29 weeks.  Then at 32 weeks  their was a slight increase in the protein in my urine.  The doctor ordered a 24 hour urine test which revealed that my protein was slowly creeping up.  Two days later i started vomiting and the Dr admitted me.  Did another 24 hour urine and blood work and protein shot up and platelets dropped.  That was a Monday morning...he scheduled my C-section for Tuesday morning.  Previous to this I received a rescue dose of steroids for the babies because i got the initial shot about a month prior.  Everything went smoothly and the babies are GREAT.

I wish you all the best....You will get thru it!!

Thank you for this!  The prematurity thing has had me freaked and everyone that I have talked to have had their triplets at about 27 to 29 weeks and the experience has been frightening to hear.  I am glad to hear that your bundle turned out well and are all healthy and thriving.

Congratulations!
