2 days.... 48 hours.....

I am down to just waiting 2 days till my HR OB appointment.  It was moved from the 13th till today which has made for the wait to be worse!!  But it is almost here, not sure what I should expect or why I am so excited I know I won’t get any answers when I go, but I guess I am excited to take the first step to getting answers.  I have no clue what to expect, I have been told by the doctors that she will do an ultra sound, not sure what for there’s nothing in there, that’s kind of the problem.  I will be 9 DPO when I go in, not sure if they will run a pregnancy test or not, but it wont do much good only being 9 DPO.

Should I take in my Fertility Friend charts with me?

What kind of questions do you think I should ask her?  (Any advice is appreciated)

I don’t have any questions yet, mostly *here I am your lab rat, please figure out why I have had 2 MC in 5 months* if there’s something wrong or its just bad luck…

PS please! have been told she was a HR OB, now what she is or what she knows maybe shes an RE and my regular OB didnt want to confuse me with termanaology she figured I wouldnt understand.  I am going to her because that is where my insurance is allowing me to go, and I have spoke to her and she is committed to helping me, which i need.  so please try to be supportive.....

Thanks for any advice you can spare!  I appreciate it very much.

My first question is why are you going to a high risk OB?  OB's are there to keep you healthy during pregnancy and help you deliver a healthy baby.  If you are having trouble getting and/or staying pregnant, you really should go see an RE (reproductive endocrinologist).  Their SOLE purpose is to get people STICKILY pregnant.  OB's may say they specialize in fertility, but believe me -- it is night and day difference.  Seek out an RE.

I am going where I was sent, my regular OB after my second MC is sending me to this person.  That is what I was told and I am going with it for now.  I know very little about her, so I will be meeting her Wednesday.

Maybe she is an RE, then.  That would make more sense than your OB sending you to a high risk OB.

Hopefully it goes well.  But, really -- don't hesitate to shop around doctors.  They are not all created equal.

While I agree with the PP that what you probably need is a Reproductive Endocrinologist, I say the more on the team, the better.  I think you should ask the OB if he/she would recommend that you see an RE and then come to the OB once you're PG again.

For the Ultrasound, they probably just want to take a look at your ovaries and everything and see if there's anything obviously wrong there like cysts, etc.  Also, that will be a transvaginal Ultrasound so be prepared for that.  I don't know if you've had one before but it's the kind where they use the internal probe instead of going over the belly.

I would take your charts with you.  They may not want to see them but what's the harm in having them with you?  Might as well.

Good luck.  Let us know what happens.

Well here's a 2 second fix to differentiating between if this is an OB and an RE, Google.   Google the Dr.'s name and you should be able to tell no problem.   Plus you can do a little research on the Dr. before you go.

Get familiarized with the terminology (with regard to an RE and TTC) because it will become your best tool.   You will only benefit yourself in the end and will make for better communication between you and the Dr.

Good luck when you go. I would bring your charts with you and be sure to let them know you have them. Also with the ultrasound they may be looking to see how thick your lining is. Be sure you let them know how long your periods last. I had a 6 week period, and went in for an ultrasound 4 days after it stopped and my lining measures as thick as it would right before your period is due to start. It really help in diagnosing my issues. Bring a note pad with you and be sure to write questions down as you think of them and write down the doctors response and anything else that she say that you want to remember.

Good Luck,
Emily

Good luck to you. I know when they were testing to me to see why I have lost so many pregnancies they did tons of blood work. I dont know what all of them were for but it was like 15 vials of blood which was ok cause I just needed to know if it was something from me that was wrong. If they had not found anything in my blood they would have looked at my husbands. They found a few things with me.
I just hope it does not take forever for an answer and I know sometimes there really are no answers. So just think positive.

I wish you all the luck!!!
