Any banders have a complete unfill?
I will be 20 weeks on wednesday and had to have a complete unfill last week. I had been doing fine but then all of a sudden couldnt eat anything and then got to where I couldnt even drink either. Had no choice but to get the unfill. I was scared but knew it was for the best.
So my question is...How much did you gain after your unfill? How fast? I have gained 5 pounds in one week, ugh. I know its because I am finally being able to drink and eat but also I am splurging. Its so hard now that I can eat completely like normal.
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I have lost 112lbs since my surgery in November of 2007. Ready for a baby now.
I haven't had an unfill yet, but I have a feeling it is coming. I just had to tell you we had our bands put in about a week a part. I am about 5 weeks behind you with my pregnancy. I hope you get some good advice. I also have a question for you when you did you glucose test did you do the drink? I just wondered if because it doesn't hit our stomachs all at once if it would be accurate. Sorry for hijacking your post.
Good Luck,
Emily

If your pouch is empty, the liquid will go right through your band. I think you're supposed to have an empty stomach to do the glucose test, aren't you? I don't remember... DD is 6 so it's been a while. Either way, just make sure your pouch is empty so the liquid can pass right through.
I didnt have a complete unfill but might as well have since I could eat anything. Can't remember when I had it done, think around 9 weeks? But I gained 38 lbs during the whole pregnancy. I havent lost much of that, so be careful about the weight gain. I wish I would have been better because this sucks trying to get it off a second time. But I have a perfect healthy little guy so it was still worth it :)
I'm afraid this might happen to me too. I am only 4 weeks pregnant right now, but I know as time goes on that it might be possible to need an unfill and I am also concerned about weight gain. This may sound strange, but I am afraid that if I need an unfill that the needle could possible get close to the uterus if I'm farther along. My port is right above my belly button and I know that fill needle is long. I guess I don't know enough about anatomy to know if it could be a possiblility or not. It just seems like the way he stabs to find my port sometimes that he could be puncturing something now that I'm pregnant. Sorry, if I changed the subject.
If my port was where yours is, I would have the same concern. Mine is up right below my left breast and my doc still told me if I needed and unfill they would do a complete and not just some because they didnt want to be poking around with the baby in there. Didnt make much sense to me since it is so far up but whatever I guess. Good Luck on that.

I had a partial unfill from about 8-14 weeks, and then had some put back in, but I kept a pretty loose band the whole time. I gained around 25 pounds, depending on the day. 4 days after birth, I was only 4 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight and by 6 weeks after I was 10 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight.
You will sometimes gain a surprising amount in a day or two, but a LOT of it is fluid weight! Just try to make good choices and not stress too much about it.

I have 3cc in my band. It was at 7.5 but my doc took out all but 3cc because of the nausea I was experiencing. I had the unfill the day after I found out I was pregnant, before I even made it to the OB. I was about 6 weeks along then.
I'm 13 weeks out and still have yet to gain anything. I actually lost about 4 pounds between weeks 8-10 and haven't gained them back.
My portions are still pretty small, much smaller than a normal person but not quite band portions. I eat until I'm satisfied and stick with healthy foods. Don't get me wrong, I have caved several times and eaten foods that weren't so healthy, but only once or twice a week. Having a little sugar every once in a while isn't going to cause any serious gain issues... it's overdoing it daily or almost daily that will.
One thing that keeps me in line is knowing that gaining too much can and will cause serious problems with my pregnancy. I gained a total of about 50lbs with my DD and ended up on bedrest toward the end because my blood pressure shot up. Also, if you had any previous comorbidities like diabetes, PCOS, sleep apnea, etc. they can come back with a vengance if you gain too much. I have PCOS and it can easily cause gestational diabetes if I'm not careful. I try to focus on things like this and it helps keep me in line.
Exercise is much easier to do now that I don't feel so pressured to do it to lose weight. I've only been able to do it for the last couple of weeks because of being constantly tired and nauseous, but I enjoy taking walks or getting on the treadmill for a little while. It doesn't seem like such a chore now.
