Tomorrow is weigh day...
My last 2 weigh ins were not good, .9 pounds one week and 0 lost last Monday. Normally I would be convinced that the next weigh in would be great but I am not so sure. I actually feel bigger. I only went to the gym 4 days and I only walked about 20 miles instead of the 32 I had been. A few days this week I went over 1400 calories. I also started drinking coffee with skim milk and Splenda and only had about 40 oz of tea a water a day when normally I drink over 100 oz.
Why the change??? I don't know but it isn't going to stay, I did great yesterday and my head is back on for today too. I made a lifestyle change over 8 months ago now. This week was NOT slipping back into old habits but a busy week, a cold week when my husband wasn't available to watch the kids so I bundled them up and did shorter walks. If the scale is bad I will have learned my lesson about not staying focused.
Oh, one day this week I ate over 60 grams of fiber and enjoyed the bathroom 2 days in a row... I guess the fiber does work but for me it take really large amounts.
I really hope you all have good weigh ins. I'm excited about Monday and feeling a fresh start. I feel this every Monday. That is the great thing about counting calories, every day I get to eat 1400 more. On Mondays the gym reopens and I feel like I am working better. Good luck tomorrow!

Thank you Liz for your kind words. I think part of the reason I have been able to stick with it and really make the change is because I got out of the protein first mindset. I think protein does work to get weight off fast but I have always gained back when I restrict my foods. I eat about 150 grams of carbs a day and about 90 grams of protein. My carbs are healthy carbs for the most part and full of fiber. I really try not to stress out about the weight coming off slowly, I know it will eventually come off.

Have you ever considered writing a self-help book? I think your experiences would be so valuable to ALL gastric bypass patients and there really are not many out there. I mean...obviously you are not considered an "expert" in the field, but I personally prefer books based on personal experience and real life experience than some scientific bs that someone has studied or done statistics on.
Anyway...just a thought...I will post my weight tomorrow. I have not weighed since my last update of 100.2, and I have no idea which way the scale is going. Although, I have to say, I have seen some recent pics of me on fb, and oh my gosh I look so OLD!!!!! I am not even 40 and I look well over 40...it is just the whole being too skinny thing and my face looking drawn...I recommitted to really trying to gain weight rather than just maintain, I am over this looking like crap...I want to be an attractive woman, not an old skinny grandma woman.

I have to chime in here and say you are 100% right about the protein first mind set. If I think that way I overeat almost 95% of the time. Because as soon as I have something "I am not suppose to" like a bun I automatically eat anything I want. So I have focused more on what I want to eat but eating less of it. And with weigh****chers anyway bread and carbs are not a no no altogether. So this is what I will try for the next week. I don't think my weigh in tomorrow will be yielding any results as I sabotaged my efforts whenever I ate anything "wasn't suppose to". grrr its an endless cycle.
I think for newer post ops the protein first is critical since they won't get many calories in but at the same time, I think that kind of eating may be setting us all up for weight gain when we start to eat normal. My doctor encouraged ketosis and I lost great while in it, got pregnant at 8 months out and did every possible to get out of ketosis and never lost a pound when I wasn't in it.
I love eating what I want. Of course I don't eat a pile of candy but it is a game to find something and make it lower calorie. I've been making the fiber one apple muffins with applesauce and egg whites and they are a great treat. Better than cake.
