Sugar free hawaiian punch or crystal light ok?

Before I found out I was pregnant, I drank 3 packets of either sugar free hawaiian punch or crystal light, or some mixture of them a day and now I'm wondering how safe they are when pregnant. Does anyone know? I find online to use them in moderation, but what is moderation? Is that one packet a day or is that 2 packets a week, or what?

Hey Tami...

I am probably the wrong one to ask since I heard it was moderation and I did not check what that meant....along with deli meat I also had crystal lite daily....while I don't mind water I always loved the extra good taste...I still get my water in by use of crystal lite....i love that stuff!

The sweetener is aspartame, and less than 2% of acesulfame potassium. As a side note it says it also contains phenylalanine.

Aspertame is generally considered the worst artificial sweetner in pregnancy.  The acesulfame potassium is completely safe.

There's no hard core rules, but my OB told me to avoid it when I could, so I did.  Plus I don't let my kids have it unless there is absolutely no other option.

If it's sugar-free and you're able to tolerate the artifical sweetener they're using, I say go for it.

I drink both from time to time to get something besides water in...

There are a lot of reports out there that suggest food dyes aren't the best thing for humans and especially pregnant women.  Moderation is definitely key.
