Question for the post-op moms???
I will be 40 weeks tomorrow and this is my first pregnancy. I have been having major braxton-hicks contractions but that is about it. At my Dr appt Tuesday, the baby had not dropped and I have not diulated. my cervix has thinned out some.
I was wondering, has anyone experienced a blockage or any complication/concern due to having a RNY gastricbypass. Because our systems our not wired the same could my baby's journey to the birth canal be blocked by my bypassed stomach and intestines?
She does ball up really tight and seems to be more horizontal than vertical. And at 40 weeks she should be descending more into the birth canal.
I dont want to seem paranoid, but I want to be cautious as well. By the way, the last ultrasound I had was around 25 weeks, my Dr has not felt the need to give me another one. But even as I type this post, my contractions are 7-10 minutes apart consistently for the past 5 hours.
There is no way you intestines can block your uterus/cervix.
Your baby will come out the same way someone who never had bypass would.

No way, no how.
Go to that link in another window or tab. Take a good gander at the top picture.
See the bits at the very bottom? The two identical things on the side with a thing in the middle? Those are your ovaries and your uterus. Admittedly, when there is a baby in the uterus, it grows, but that is essentually where the uterus IS. The birth canal, or vagina, is attached to the bottom end of the uterus and leads out of the body.
Now, look up closer to the top. You can recognize the lungs, yes? That BIG FREAKING brownish thing is your liver. The thing it is sitting on is what a normal stomach looks like. Yours looks similar.. just basically sewn in half. It's still sitting side by side.. in fact, they are attached, just in two seperate pieces. The SKINNY stringy thingies are the small intestines, which is what is bypassed for the majority, and the longish wide thingy that goes up, sideways and down is your colon.
Point is, they aren't even ATTACHED. They aren't in the same BODY cavity. They aren't close to each other.
Hope this helps.
Thank you ladies for your helpful replies, my next appointment is on the 20th, hopefully we have more activity before then.
