Weight gain... what has your experience been?

I'm almost officially out of my first trimester and haven't gained anything... actually lost 4 pounds due to the nausea and inability to eat for a few weeks.... plus I had the flu.

I've had lapband but most of my fill was taken out due to the nausea. Fine by me. My portions are still small and I stay full for a good long while.

Not that I'm excited about seeing the number on the scale go up... but when should I expect it to? And by how much? I'm hoping to only gain what's necessary and not have much of any fat storage going on.

My doc isn't concerned about the weight loss or lack of gain... I'm just curious as to what to expect since I'm post op WLS.

TIA!

I had RNY so I don't know how different my results would be.  I was 7 months out when our oops baby decided to begin and I lost 16 lbs right away.  since then I've had 5 lbs come back on, go off, come back on, etc.  so I stay roughly 11 lbs down.

I have no idea what the remainder of the pregnancy will give me.  just want a healthy baby though...like I"m sure we all do

I had RNY on 1/21/09 and conceived on 4/2/09. I have lost about 60-70 lbs since that date and have not gained any weight yet. I have finally stopped losing tho. Baby has not been affected by my weight loss as far as we know. Baby is actually measuring about a week ahead as of my 25 week u/s.

I am 14 weeks 4 days. I have only gained 2 or 3 pounds depending on the day. I still have a complete fill. My OB does not want me to gain more than 15 pounds. I try not to weigh myself because I would rather not gain at all. With my other children  I lost or gained nothing and that was pre WLS. So I think it just depends on your body. As long as you are getting you and your babies nutritional needs filled I would not worry. My last child weighed 9 pounds and I gained not a single pound with that pregnancy.

Good Luck,
Emily

I'm a little shy of 4 years post-op and just about ready to pop.  I gained 15lbs, but recently lost 2lbs.  Have no idea how....so I'm at 13lbs gained.  Not too shabby.

My first pregnancy was 4 months post op and I gained 8 lbs the first HALF, and 42 the second half.  With this twin pregnancy, I gained 12 lbs the first half and a total of 37 thus far at 32.5 weeks.

I am 4 years post op and 17 weeks.  I have a net gain of 6 pounds.  My appetite varies from day to day.  Some days I have a big appetite and some days I have no appetite.  My primary goal is to have a healthy pregnancy and baby.  My weight goal is to gain no more than 20 pounds.

We shall see....

You'll probably gain some soon. I lost 6 lbs during my first trimester, and gained about 20-25 (always fluctuating due to fluid retention) by the end. Fours days after birth, I only weighed 4 lbs more than before I got pregnant. Don't worry about it too much!

This is very reassuring everyone! Thanks!! I am hoping not to gain much. I was thin when I got pregnant with my 6yo DD and ended up gaining like 50lbs!!! Primarily because I ate HORRIBLY and CONSTANTLY. My thyroid also went kaput at some point, so that had to do with some of it... but the hershey pies and fried rice was the primary culprit.

I've been eating so much better this time. I'm not making an effort to eat less, I just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I'm so glad my band (even though it's practically empty) is still helping me out. Even if it's all in my head, if it weren't for the self control I gained in the last 8 months I'm sure I would be right where I was last time I was pregnant.

Hello,

I had my band placed in February and I am now 27 weeks pregnant. I was down 48 pounds when I found out I was pregnant. Found out at 11 weeks pregnant, looks like I lost about 15 the first trimester. I had only gained 2 pounds from 11 weeks to 17 weeks and now the weight has started. I am gaining an average of a pound a week now. I am up a total of 14 since week 11 and I am 27 weeks. Good Luck to you! I also have a 6yo and gained about 50-60 pounds with that pregnancy, so my goal is to stay under 25.

Take Care,

Sarah
