Waking up hungry?
Hello Ladies!
I'm 6+ years out post op. I'm newly pregnant....I've started doing the six meal thing to keep the hunger down. BUT, I've been waking up so hungry in the middle of the night. Anyone else experience this? I mean, it's not unheard of that the appetite increases. I've just been resistent to getting up and eating a snack.
Thank you!
Valerie

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's not unusual. Although I would always have a snack before bedtime, early and late in my pregnancy I would wake up in the middle of the night absolutely famished. I could not sleep until I had something to eat (a glass of milk, some cheese, etc.) Your body is telling you it needs something, as it will all throughout your pregnancy, so you might as well start listening and have a bite to eat :-)
Congrats on the pregnancy. I usually keep some peanut butter on whole grain crackers on my dresser so I can grab a couple and that usually does the trick for me. Of course, I also have a bottle of water waiting for right after the peanut butter. It works for me.

We have our miracle: Jakob Makhi born 4-15-10; 4 lbs. 10 oz. 22" long.
Congratulations! I am 4 years post op and definitely went through that phase a few weeks ago. I make sure that I have a snack about an hour or two before I go to bed and I have stopped waking up starving at 3 a.m. I wouldn't be surprised that as I continue to go through the different pregnancy stages/growth spurts that it would happen again.
I was worried about gaining excess weight, but even with the late night snacks..I have a net weight gain of 6 lbs at 17 weeks. The average is between 5 and 10 lbs at this point. Your body is definitely telling you that you need some nutrition so go ahead and feed it.
Take care!
