IUI #2

Unsuccessful.  Going tomorrow for clomid check to see if my ovaries are ready for the next round.  Third time's a charm?

Thanks guys!  It is such a rollercoaster of emotions every month (I know you guys know this).  Recently my husband did some research and found out that if the male is taking paxil it can cause DNA fragmentation.  What this means is that by appearance the sperm look healthy but inside the DNA is fragmentated.  The sperm with still fertilize the egg, but it will never divide.  My husband has been taking paxil for almost 8 years.  The good news is that is reversable and fairly quickly so.  Hopefully if this is the problem his sperm should be back to normal for the next cycle.  This is just a little ray of hope that I am holding onto for the moment.  Anybody else ever heard of this?

My husband is on Paxil, one other anti-depressant I can't think of now, cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds, meds for his neurophathy (numbness in hands and feet), water pills, a steriod for inflamation AND his anti-rejection drugs (2 of them) to make sure his donated kidney doesn't reject....

I was worried scared that we would never get pregnant and if we did it would end in miscarriage and/or birth defects because his sperm would be so screwed up by all the meds he took.

In fact - in England transplant clinics are suggesting men who take the anti-rejection drugs he takes ease off them onto others 6 months before trying to father a child because of risks of facial/jaw malformations and other physical abnormalities. 

I didn't want my husband to risk changing any meds (even Paxil) for fear of it affecting his kidney.

I was a nervous nellie...... but all turned out okay.  If your husband was able to transition off Paxil then awesome - if it's something he needs and/or the transition would be too hard I'm sure there are plenty of babies (Cooper included) that are born to Paxil taking daddies.  :-)

Thank you all very much.  The ultrasound today showed two large cysts, one on each ovary.  We are on hold from using any medication this month, we are still gonna try on our own though.  Thanks again for your support.
