Car Seats and Strollers ??'s
So when I was 10 weeks or so I bought a Eddie Bauer stoller and matching car seat. I was excited them b/c it was 60 and its only about 2 years old now. And it looks like it's in great condition. I asked her why she was getting rid of it and she said b/c her son was 2 and grew out of it. She figured since they matched and had a base for each car she would sell them together. I checked the discard date or whatever it's called and it says not til 2013. Well some people are gettng on me saying never use a used car seat. So my question is my baby shower is in a month should I put a new car seat/stroller combo on it? Thanks for your input!!

the reason they say not to use a used carseat is because you dont know what happened to it... even if it was in a very minor fender bender you need to replace it... its no good at that point... why dont you just register for a new carseat... if they stroller works fine.. then why bother spending the money?... also while the infant seats are convient in the start.... they out grow them rapidly... really who wants to be carrying around a 15 lb baby in a big heavy chair... jayson was 17 lbs by the time he was 4 months old and had to be put in a convertable.. because he was just to heavy to be carried... i now that the first years true fit (convertable)... it holds from 5 lbs to 65 lbs
I am re-using Kellen's carseat but I know it's never been in an accident. If you know the person you got it from, ask her if it's ever been in any kind of accident. Otherwise, you can register for or get a new one that will fit the base and stroller.
Even though Kellen was born at 10.5 lbs and was heavy as hell to lug around in that thing, it was convenient when going to friend's houses and pushing in the stroller around the mall.

Yep, 10.5 lbs and I was only 4 months post-op when I got pregnant! He was a heavy bugger but I started carrying him in the Ergo Baby when out and about and that helped A LOT! I used the infant car seat when at friends' houses, shopping carts, and in the stroller. NEVER to just carry around - ouch! LOL!
