UPDATE--How do I stop myself from being extremely paranoid?

**Thanks ladies-- I called this moring and I have an appt for 5:45 tonight!  I'm 12 weeks hopefully we can hear the heart beat and I can chill out!

I know I need to chill out.  I am a super high strung person and I know that's not good for me or baby.

At around 7 weeks I had bad morning sickness, diarrhea and a low grade fever.  During that week we were able to see our little one with its very strong heart rate (189).  At around 8.5 weeks the morning sickness stopped, except the diarrhea, which is gone now thank goodness.

When I mentioned the low grade fever (always less than 100) to my mid wife she told me that's generally not normal, even though everything I read, hear and see says a pregnant woman's temp is usually a little higher and NOT to worry if it doesn't reach 100.4.

Anyway I am starting to get the low grade fevers again, they have been gone since week 9 ish.  Also, I have had lower back pain since I got pregnant.  But this week it has got worse, not horrible, but absolutely more noticeable, it's also my lower and mid back now.

Basically what I'm asking is should I be worried?  I want to call my Dr. tomorrow, but I don't want them to think I'm some hysterical preggo woman or something.  I have an appt on Oct 27 but would feel a whole lot better if they could squeeze me in before then so I can actually hear the baby's heartbeat, just to calm me down.  I could only hear it for literally 1 second last time.

Any advice??

Thanks Karen

From one worry wart to another - (and one high strung to another LOL!)

Just call your doc. Tell them you aren't feeling good, (lower back pain, low grade fever - maybe underlying UTI?) and that you want to be seen. Really what are they going to tell you - No? I don't think so - they can be liable for something. If they do try - then you start pushing.....

There were times I would just be so freaked (since I lost one prior) I NEEDED that reassurance of hearing my babies heart beat. My Doc was super understanding and would let me come in to see the NP really quick for a check if needed.

You will feel better once you can feel your baby move - trust me. Then you know they are ok. It just seems like forever to get there.

Thanks I needed to hear I'm not crazy!!! I'm gonna call tomorrow, just to be safe.  I mean how hard is it for them to squeeze me in and let me hear the heart beat.

I cant wait to feel my little one move, then maybe I can chill a little!!!

I think Dawn and I are the same person.  We always think the same.  I agree with her 100% and would just call - it could be a UTI and you wanna have that checked out.  I was a paranoid freak with Kellen's pregnancy since I had lost a couple before that.  I wasn't as much so with the twins but I decided to rent a doppler with each pregnancy just because I AM such a worry wart.

Now you'll probably be getting to the point where "I don't feel pregnant anymore" hits and then you worry some more.  I think that hit about weeks 14-16.  Pregnancy is crazy!  LOL.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

If you find an answer start selling it - you'll be rich !

I bought a doppler monitor (about $100 on ebay).  Although it didn't work well until 15-16 weeks or so... it gave me a peace of mind before I could feel him move.

Once I felt him move I almost never used the doppler -- of course I had monthly ultrasounds and biweekly check-ups too.

I agree with the PPs about calling the doctor and making sure it's not a UTI !

Take Care and keep us updated.
