TWINS????
Sooooo, im looking around at everyone, and its alot of ladies preggers with twins. (congrats) however, is this common for women after WLS?? I mean is it cause of the hormones picking up so rapidly?? Oh my God I will just DIE if im preggers with twins (dont get me wrong i will be happy, just EXTREMELY shocked). Are there some statistics i can look up and see? Like a percentage or something?? Im just nervous. I keep having dreams about boy and girl twins, and then my stomach is already big for only 13 weeks, and i know losing 81lbs aint gonna make my stomach that much more visable this early, cause i didnt lose any of the weight in my belly, (lol) Okay im done rambling..... Just nervous and wondering....

I don't think it has anything to do with WLS. It appears that more women are having multiples because it's a generalized group with one common focus, pregnancy. We all just happened to have some form of WLS.
If you went on a non WLS pregnancy board, it would probably seem as if there were a higher number of women getting pregnant with multiples as well.
I had fertility treatments to get pregnant with my twins, which is why I ended up with twins. I had fertility treatments again to get pregnant with my third and I am just having one this time. It's the luck of the draw.

You are correct in that it has to do with whacky hormones. Fraternal twins happen a few ways...drugs, heredity, and hormonal fluke. I didn't take drugs and there are NO twins in my family (and it only runs down the mother's side -females only). Advanced maternal age and young maternal age can cause a hormonal fluke. That being said, I believe that WLS CAN have something to do with twins if you get pregnant early out when our hormones are all whacky from rapid weightloss. But there hasn't been any studies on it or anything. Just my uneducated guess. LOL.
I think for me, it was my age, not the surgery. I was 2.5 years out, no longer losing weight, and I'm 34 years old. I felt like I ovulated for 3 weeks when we did our thing. I was almost certain I had to be done ovulating when I obviously wasn't. There is a forum on www.whattoexpect.com that focuses on twins and multiples only. I'm the only one there that had WLS yet there are TONS of mommies there pregnant with twins!
Hope that helps!
