just wanted to ask if you ladies knew what the risks/ dangers of herbal tea are?  I have one that I'll drink from time to time

Ingreadients: rose hips, hibiscus, peaches, spices, orange peel, lemon peel, apples, strawberry leaves and roasted chickory.

I will google it too but trust the answers I get from you ladies more then random internet facts.

Thanks!

ETA - I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and I will ask the OB at my next appt. also

I think the only one that you should avoid is red raspberry leaf tea and black licorice. Who likes black licorice anyway LOL. The teas you buy in the store should be fine, it is the ones made and sold to medicine shops that I would be more worried about.

I  black licorice! LOL

Liz, I never really thought about tea. I drank alot of it when I was sick and preggo. I just got stuff from the grocery store.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Hey!  I love black licorice!

I've been wanting to try black licorice tea...but haven't ordered it online because it comes in bulk and I don't want to buy a huge amount until I know if I like the tea.  My mom used to take my sisters and I to a place in Roseburg, Oregon, when we were little (ie...less than 3 because we moved north around that time!) and we'd have licorice ice cream...it was a murky dark gray color...and it was delicious!  My DH and DS despise it...so if I eat it now...I go breath black licorice breath on them just to be obnoxious.

I drank a lot of herbal tea in my first trimester -- because I avoided all caffeine and artificial sweetners.

I drank the Celistial Seasonings -- all vareities --  peach, wild berry zinger, blueberry , apple cinnamon.   I like my tea strong -- so I would drink 2 bags per cup and if it was iced I'd use 3 bags per cup.

Cooper seems okay for it !   I agree with the PP about not using those medicated ones -- nothing with ginseng and not too much black tea or green tea either.

Drink Up!

Hi Liz,

I have read and was told to stay away from Green Tea.  http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/1-24-2006-87222.asp an article on the use of green tea while pregnant.  Me I just stay away from it as I hate the taste.  LOL  But DH kept wanting to buy me green tea when I was pregnant, now with ttc again I just avoid it.  I stick to decaf teas, my favorite is Earl Grey.

Thanks! I think I'll have to get some decaf tea for my drawer. It is already cold here in PA - this can't be a good sign!
