How Does Your Baby Sleep ?

My doc suggested a wedge because Josiah had a flat spot on his head. Once he got too big and was rolling from his side to his back we took it out of the crib. We keep the house between 68-72 because of the SIDS thing. Josiah was swaddled then we used a sleep sack (still do) He is very hot blooded... so we put him in a pj top and no bottom. It works great. We have let Josiah sleep with a blanket since he was about 3 months old BUT only a small blanket my Mom knitted for him. He always likes to put the blanket up near his face and rub it between his fingers. I felt it was ok since the blanket had holes in it and he was able to breathe. Now that didn't stop me from going in a few times a night to check on him... Now that he rolls and sits up and stands I don't worry about that.

I can't let Cooper sleep in his own room so I can check on him all night.  Some day I will let go (you know, when he's 18 and still sleeping in the Pack N Play next to our bed!)

I love the way Cooper looks in the sleep sac****ep telling him I have a "baby in a bag".

Thank you for your thoughts on the subject!

We used a sleep positioner until Libby cold roll over, then she was done with it.  Also, I used to put mittens on Libby at night because her hands were always so icy cold.  I probably did that the first few months of her life, until it started warming up here.  I don't mean the little mittens that you use to stop them from scratching their face either, they were full on winter mittens LOL  We also put Libby is blanket sleepers, and did all summer long.  We have our AC at 75, or some where around that, and we use our ceiling fans 24/7/365 and I didn't want her getting cold at night.  We do not put a blanket on her, although we did once when we were camping and she left it on for probably a half hour.  She moves around way too much to stay under any sort of blanket.

That is Cooper's problem -- he wiggles around too much.  I coud only keep the blankets on him with the wedge because I could REALLY wrap them around the wedge....

Now without the wedge I tried blankets under the "matress" but there is enough room for him to roll / kick them off.

So I have a couple of "bags" to put him in at night!

I hope you have pictures of LIbby with her winter gloves sleeping....that is a funny image in my mind !!

Thanks for your thoughts!

We had to use a sleep positioner for the first half of Mack's life because he was such a little wiggler and I was so concerned about keeping him on his back. However, once he learned to roll over, I had to get rid of it because he would squirm and squirm and squirm until he managed to flip onto his tummy in the positioner, it wasn't doing any good for us anymore. To my horror, my son has always insisted on sleeping on his tummy. When he was your son's age, I would go in 5+ times a night and flip him back over because of the "rules" and my worries, without fail, he always found his way back to his tummy by morning. It's so funny now (he's 14 months old) we know when we lay him down for bed if he's ready to fall aslee*****t if he rolls over. We always lay him on his back and he immeadiately flips over to his tummy if he's ready for bed. If he lays there looking at us, he'll be up for at least a half-hour, little stinker!

And about the blanket, he always sleeps with one since probably about 8 months of age maybe? I can't quite remember, but I know he's covered with a light crocheted blanker right now and snoozing away

From what I read, 68 degrees is the optimal temp for prevetion of SIDS! We usually set the temp at about 74 at night, that seems ot be plenty chilly for all of us.

Rowan is younger than cooper, but he sleeps with a wedge (due to reflux) and swaddled (for night time). For naps I don't swaddle him, and he will roll over onto his side quite often. He doesn't use a blanket at night, but during the daytime for naps I'll use just a receiving blanket.
