How Does Your Baby Sleep ?

Just my opinion but I put her down the ONLY way she will sleep - on her stomach. I did this with my first and she is 18 months and perfect. Babies slept on their stomachs FOREVER before some scientist wanted to test some theory. Like I have said before I don't follow too many rules, I do what works for baby and me. Honestly every single option or lack there of has some special do's and dont's, do what he likes and just use your best judgement. Good Luck

Amen! Before having Drew - I was all about following everything to the book. Once he arrived, I realized that every baby is different and that I could try things with him but if it didn't work, it didn't work. Now I do whatever works for him. With that being said - Drew takes naps on his tummy. We're still having some issues with sleeping, so most of the time, he sleeps swaddled on his back with me. We do use a positioner when he's in the crib/pack n play because he HATES being on his back. As for the temp - we keep it at 68-70, put him in a sleeper with feet, and he's good to go.

Just keep trying different things with Cooper - do what works best for him.

And Cooper hates being on his stomach!  Funny how each baby is so different even at such young ages!

I will keep trying 'til we find what works for Cooper.

Thank you!

He is so cute Cindy....

Here are my thoughts...

-  I was told to not use a wedge unless he needed it for reflux, etc. Nathan had that but were told still not to use it unless it became bad at night....we never ended up using it....BUT everyone's view is different....so I am just telling you what was told to me....
- Temperature...Nate and I are hot blooded people too but again we were told in our baby class that the temperature should be 68 - 72 in the house....so we usually keep it at 70 or 72 and dress light for Nathan and we keep a ceiling fan on (were told that was good for SIDS)
- Blankets...we still do not use at all...again, because of SIDS...for a long time we did use the swaddler blankets
- Jammies...he has and will for awhile sleep with feet jammies....helps him stay warm and also he has a problem keeping his socks on (he hates them) so I have to keep something on his little pigges
- Rolling Over...again, EVERY child is different so I am not sure that the wedge is preventing him...Nathan rolled over from his tummy at 2 months (that is easier especially when you have a big belly like Nathan)...again everyone is so different....
- Sleep Position....always goes down on back...following the SIDS rule but he rolls all over...goes to side and tummy and back...at first I freaked when he went on side and tummy and I kept getting up and turning him over...but realized that if he was strong enough to keep doing that he would be fine....
- Crib Bumpers...I noticed you did not have any in the crib....I did not for the longest time either...when Coop starts moving around he may get his feets caught...I got the breathable bumper pads and they are a big help....maybe you already got those....I am going to move to the padded ones after his first birthday (another SIDS thing) as he keep****ting his head on the crib because the breathable bumper pads are so thin...

Anyway...those are just my two cents and opinions...everyone has different ideas and input....hope they helped at all....

xoxo

Thank you!  I don't have bumpers.... I thought they were forbidden until I saw your post the other day and realized they make "breathable" ones.  I will have to check them out.

Right now Cooper spends more time in the Pack "N" Play by my bed... I am loathe to move him into his own room for selfish reasons.  I like him near me!!   I know eventually he will be in his crib more...so bumpers are good plan.

Thanks again for all your input !!

(oh -- and believe me, when Cooper finds his "boy parts" I will need all the advice I can get!  Right now when he grabs it he gets a surprised look on his face.... pretty soon he'll figure out how to grab it! )

Jantzen sleeps in long sleeved sleepers, etc. Feet always cover by PJ's or socks.

I put him to sleep on his side. He is most comfy that way. I never did use wedge. Guess I just never did with other kids so never even tried with him.

Jantzen sleeps with a receiving blanket. Not to cover him, but he holds it up by his cheek to sleep. He has been doing this for over 2 months and it seems that is his security, not a binkie or favorite toy.

Temp is usually around 65.

As far as rolling over. Jantzen only rolls from side to back in bed. At times, when having tummy time, he will roll completely over. But not always. Sometimes he gets his arm stuck and grunts. He gets mad. But he is 5 months and not a "big roller". He would much rather sit up in bumbo or jumparoo. He doesn't like laying down for very long so the rolling isn't a whole lot.

OMG !!!!!  Look at Jantzen !!!!!!!  He's so big now!!  And so cute !  I want to squeeze his cheeks!

Glad to hear not all babies like to roll !  Cooper gets his arm caught too -- but I don't think he realizes he can flip himself over yet.  I know it will come in time.

Very adorable picture.  :-)

Thanks for sharing!

ha !  Rule breaker!  He's a rebel already - a blanket, bumpers, toys and on his stomach.

I love his fat thighs !!

Cute Cute Cute.

Thanks for the visual -- you said it all in no words.  FORGET THE RULES DO WHAT YOUR BABY WANTS !
