How Long Did it Take Before You were Prego
Hi there Ladies,
My husband and I are in the makes of trying to start a family and I was just curious to the Bandsters and VSGer's how long did it take for you to become pregnant? No offense RNY'ers but you guys have an edge on us due to the whole malabsorption thing making BC less effective. Also what if any tools did you use like Ovulation Calendars, Ovaluation Sticks etc??? Right now we are on the everyday method and no dice.
Thanks for your thoughts and support,
Broom

I'm an RNY'er too but they didn't do anything to my uterus :)
off birth control in January - pregnant in April, miscarringe in June at 11 weeks (blighted ovum - basically pregnancy ended shortly after conception), pregnant again in August.
Best of luck! Oh and I use fertilityfriend.com to track everything and the Book - "Taking Charge of your Fertility" is a great tool!!

I'll chime in since I never was on the pill and the *malabsortion thing* didn't apply to me ..
I had Mirena IUD in for 4 years. After it was removed on June 1st had screwy 35 day cycles and never could figure out my O date. Started Using OPK sticks in Sept. and now i'm pregnant!

Wow, you look great! I haven't seen you around in a while. It took 3 months to get pregnant the with Hannah, and three minutes to get pregnant with this baby lol.
I used ovulation sticks to help get pregnant with Hannah. We were using condoms this time (it only takes one time of not using them to get pregnant lol).
Good luck!

I agree, it doesn't have anything to do with if you had RNY, LapBand or whatever on how long it takes you to get pg once you go off the pill or any contraceptive. With my other two kids when I was heavier, it took 2 yrs to get pg with my first and 14 months and 2 round of Clomid to get pg with my 2nd.
I lost 130 pounds after my RNY and my doctor gave me the thumbs up at my year visit in June to start ttc. I had my IUD out the month before in May because I wanted to wait at least 2 cycles after I had the IUD out before we started trying. We started ttc in July and I got a positive pg test on August 1st- so only one time! I was so shocked but really believe that the weight loss contributed largely to me getting pregnant so quickly.
I used ovulation predictor kits to determine when I was ovulating, along with paying attention to my cervical mucus (I read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" when ttc my other 2 kids). GL to you!

I officially started trying in May and got a positive test in August. I have since had a miscarriage 3.5 weeks ago. We will start TTC again when we get the go ahead from my OB/GYN, which will probably be the end of the month.
I used the ovulation predictor sticks the month I got pregnant. I know that when we talked to the OB/GYN about trying, she mentioned to do every other day. Not everyday because you have better chance of conceiving due to sperm count. If you BD everyday you are not giving time for the sperm to "stock-up".
