Hi All. New to this forum, since my husband and I have recently decided to try and have a baby. I am almost 35, so we figured that if we are going to have a baby--we needed to do it pretty soon! I am almost 2 years post op and been married almost a year. I started out using the depo shot and then a few months ago had the Mirena inserted. (Wish we had decided before spending the money on that!! But what can you do?!) Anyone had any issues getting pregnant after using these forms of BC? Any words of advice for me?? I have used other forums on this site and I know you guys always have some great advice!

Thanks!

That is very true. Looking forward to the trying!! LOL! Get the Mirena out at the end of the month--so then the real fun will begin!

I got pregnant exactly nine months after my last depo shot with my second son.  I also used Mirena and had no trouble getting pregnant when we stopped using backup methods.  In fact, this one came a couple months early as we weren't officially "trying" yet!

Good luck!

That makes me feel better! I was worried about the depo shot messing things up!

I was on BCP's when I conceived, and now have Mirena following the birth of my son. I was told that it is no problem to conceive after Mirena removal as there are no residual hormones or side effects that would warrant waiting a few cycles. No personal experience though.

Congratulations on your weight loss and decision to TTC! I look forward to sharing in your journey.

Thanks so much! I think my main concern is residual hormones from the depo shot. I went directly from it to the Mirena. I have only had the MIrena a few months.

Thanks for the advice!
