IUI #5 - In progress

After much prayer and debate, hubby and the doctor won and we are doing IUI again this month. I am a little worried but I have "been there done that" four other times this year and throw in a miscarriage and I know what I am up against.

I started clomid today (a day earlier than normal). He upped my follistim from 75 to 125 and I will start it two days earlier than normal. So, I will take my five days of clomid and my six days of injections and go back next Friday for an ultrasound to check follicle growth. Then, we will know what everything looks like and whether it is more injections and trigger on Sunday or what the steps are.

Just wanted to update for those that follow my story.

Hi Tracy.  Before I tell you good luck, I have a concern!  If he is upping your injectable dosage, he shouldn't wait that long to monitor you.  Most REs do it after 4 days of stims.  This cycle for me is a prime example of why.  At baseline (CD 3), my ovaries were quiet.  At CD 7 (after 4 days of stims), I had 5 on the right between 8 and 11mm.  On my left, though, I had one at 19, one at 16, and one at 15.  4 days!!  I had to use Ganirelix to stop from ovulating on CD 8.  Seriously.

At any rate, I know we should trust our docs, but...if you feel achey, get in there earlier.

I brought that up today to both the doctor and his "primary IUI nurse" and they both said it is ok. I kept saying but if you are stimulating me earlier with higher dosage, what happens if I have 10 follicles or as you said one matures that is ready to go. I am not trying to be funny but previously they have said that if there is too many follicles during a cycle, they will stop me for ethical and safety concerns. So, I am hoping that I can convince the nurse next week to see me earlier. I know that they do this all day but everyone is different, as you said.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks

Well, after calling the nurses line and leaving a message, the nurse called back. She said the doctor said leave it the way it is. I explained my side of things (upping my meds and making my medicines earlier in the cycle). Then they both said "Your appointment to check is a week from today". I said yes. So, they are bringing me in on Wednesday instead of Friday.

Thanks Ann, for making me push them again about an appointment. Now, we just have to hope it works!

Good luck with your cycle! Keep me posted.

Good luck Traci! Sending baby dust, good vibes, prayers and all that superstitious stuff that leads to a healthy pregnancy.
