IUI - Need Advice

Ok, I need advice about doing IUI #5. We didn't do the IUI in September because I would be out of town during the optimal time. So, I just did clomid.

Well, today is CD1 and I have to decide whether to do IUI this month. Hubby and I are going to Vegas the evening of CD13 for our anniversary. Out of the four IUI's we have had, the IUI has always been on CD13. So, if it is CD13, we would be fine. If it was any day after that we would be in trouble.

I know they are going to increase my meds this month to try and stimulate more follicles. The last IUI I only had 1 mature follicle whereas on the same medication on IUI #2 I had 2 mature follicles and on IUI #3 I had 3 possibly 4 mature follicles (which I got my BFP).

So, if it was up to you, would you do it or would you skip this month? Hubby is excited to try again and I am too but at the same time it is EXPENSIVE if it is a no go. We would be BDing even if we didn't have the IUI so really it would be the medication helping to get my follicles.

So, any opinions would be appreciated.

All of my IUIs have been CD 11 - 14.  Only 1 was on 14.

That being said, though...I am not sure I would chance it to be honest.  I would hate to see you spend that money and that not get to do the IUI.  I mean, you would still have a chance with timed intercourse, but obviously not as good.

Thanks, Ann! I think it will just create more worry about "what if it is later than normal, etc".

Skip it.  Enjoy your anniversary in Vegas and start next month.   As you know, you need to expect the unexpected during fertility treatments.

That means your IUI would no doubt fall on CD 14.  LOL   I mean isn't that the way it always is?

Thanks, Julie! I know I just worry that this month will be the exception that will not fit within the "norm". Plus, fertility treatment and drugs have a mind of their own!!!

I agree with the rest of the ladies, I'd skip it too.  I did a few under pressure and in retrospect I wish I hadn't pushed it.  Especially if they are going to increase your dosage, it might make you a total biotch on your trip; if you don't cry through it, that is.  Why don't you try some other (and fun) ideas instead.  Robitussin, preseed, there's something Ann was eating (was it pineapple?), she's the expert, chime in Ann; tilt yourself up afterward, heck, get drunk (that's worked for many a folks) try all the other stuff and RELAX; you've still got Clomid in your system still so if it's gonna work, it will, if not, you've got next month to do the extra drugs.

I say skip this month! The month of July my husband's good friend got married in Myrtle Beach and he was to be in the wedding. We had booked the hotel room and had counted on the previous cycle being the same but we needed to stick around to be tested the next two days which made us miss the wedding. Needless to say, his friend and his bride were not amused. Not to mention we paid for a "cheap resort" stay that we couldn't have refunded SCREAM!!! So I wish I would have skipped that month to just focus on the treatment afterward. It was the next cycle that I got my BFP anyway...

I know you are anxious....but I would skip it and have a great time! You never know...it could be what the doctor ordered...and if not, next month will be here before you know it. Shari

I'm not sure what to tell you- IUI timing is so stressful! I have been there this whole month. Now that I'm in the 2WW, I'm glad we went ahead this month, instead of waiting for October like orignially planned. It's easy to say "skip it," but I know that is so emotionally charged! I'm not sure how much the clinic charges you for meds and IUI. My clinic is really inexpensive, which they do on purpose because they are a women's center and make their money from births, not infertility. So in that case I would go ahead with everything, on the odd chance that it would still work out. But, that's just me. I'm not sure how your body responds to the IUI's but I get cramping and nausea for about four days after, which they say isn't the norm, but I do anyway. So, that could maybe complicate your trip. It's a lot to weigh out. In the end, do what feels best for you and DH. Best of luck! Feel free to pm if you need an IUI buddy. We can be in it together. It's such a stressful process!

Well, hubby is set on trying again. I guess since we have done four this year along with a miscarrige he already knows what to expect emotional wise. So, today is my CD2 ultrasound and I will get clomid and then my injections will be mailed to me to start on Monday. Hubby feels like that if we are ovulating during the Vegas trip, we will just get to have more fun. Plus, he feels we will have a better chance since I would have more than one follice.

When are you going to do your IUI again? I know it is a tough process but ti is what we have to do to try and get our baby(ies).

PM me anytime!
