30 weeks and have a question about sugars
I had my 30 week appt yesterday and no cervical changes. YAY. However, I'm contracting over 6-8 times an hour when I'm resting in the evenings. When I'm up and about, they are like one constant long contraction. I was told last time I had a *****y uterus and my current OB agrees too. Ugh. They are only BH but they are uncomfortable, exhausting, and a real PAIN! I can't do crap without contracting. My OB was not happy that I didn't go to LD the other night when they were about 7 min apart....but I just KNEW they were BH and nothing was happening in cervical land. I told him we'd have to evict them, they won't come on their own....he said that's fine, as long as it's in November, not October. OK, point taken and agreed. Ugh.
Now, my question. They make us pee on a sugar/protein stick every time we are seen. My proteins have been 0-trace. BUT, my sugars show off the charts, like 500-1000. Now, last week I ate half a PB and sf J sandwich on whole grain bread. That was it. Came in an hour later and my sugars were off the charts. They decided to draw blood right then and there and my sugars were 98. My A1C was 6.8. This week the pee stick was exactly diagonal - half elevated, half off the charts. I pulled out my monitor immediately to check my blood and my sugars were 132 (an hour after lunch). WHAT GIVES??? One doc (the back-up) said that urine was more accurate, and my OB's nurse and what I've read online says blood is more accurate. Why on earth the big difference? I don't get it.
Any insight would be helpful. I can't wait for this to be over with in 6-7 weeks! These girls are kicking my booty!
Thanks,
Sandy

My blood sugar seems to vary by the day/hour/minute. I've been eating the exact same thing for breakfast every day. A bowl of Special K Red Berries with skim milk. One day my blood sugar will be 81 two hours later, the next day, it's 135 two hours later.
Lap Band September 2007 / Slip discovered March 2014 after significant regain / Revised to VSG April 29, 2014
This is what I know from nursing school (graduated in May)...
Urine is less accurate than blood. The high levels of sugar in your urine could be from not having recently emptied your bladder and is from urine that was stored in your bladder-that's why it's less accurate. Also, your A1C is a little high, but not bad...it should be below 6.
As far as your sugar being 132 after lunch-it's normal to have higher readings later in the day.
Hope that helps, even a little bit :)
I dont have a clue about good levels but I wanted to say I hope it goes fast. I am not having 2 and I am uncomfortable. Been contracting also. Its very painful for me also. We are right there together on the timing in our pregnancies though. I sure hope they give you a little break though. I can only imagine how you feel!!!
