Looking for Baby-Friendly Detergent
Hi Ladies--
I'm in the stock-piling phase right now...stock-piling on foods/consumables so that I can hunker down at home after the baby arrives. I think I have 5 bottles of dishwasher detergent, about 3 month's worth of frozen deli meat (for my husband's lunches....Boar's Head brand Chicken, Turkey, and Ham freeze wonderfully), 50+ rolls of paper towels, etc.
One thing I have yet to stock-up on is laundry detergent. We're just about out of the stuff we normally use, but I'd like to switch to one that is baby-friendly. What do you use...particularly if you have an HE (high-efficiency) washer?
I know Dreft is out there...but there has to be more than just one detergent that is baby-friendly, right?

ETA -- my husband says with a new baby 50+ rolls of paper towels isn't enough. LOL.
Hi Paula,
I bought the Tide unscented / uncolored. (It was $2 a bottle cheaper than Dreft). I've read some reviews of Dreft that there is a fragerance in there that irritates some babies' skin.
(Although I like the smell of Dreft myself)
Although.... grandma came over when Cooper was 1 week old and unbeknowst to me did his laundry WITH OUR REGULAR SOAP AND FABRIC SOFTENER. I picked him up and smelled him and was like "uh......" but I didn't say anything to her (after all she did all our laundry too!). Cooper was no worse for wear.... no pun intended.
He snuggles up against us with our soaps/perfumes and has never had a skin reaction. Well... he got some *****ly-heat on his face from being held so close against our bare skin and sweating in the summer months..... but that's it.
We are still working our way through Tide Unscented -- once it's gone I'll wash his stuff with ours. (except maybe the poopy stuff - that will get its own load!)
Take Care,
Cindy

We are VERY alike...I am like that all of the time....and did the same thing with Nathan even thought we were heading to MD for 11 weeks....
I used Tide Unscented and have moved to ALL Unscented....to me Dreft was just too much....you will realize soon how often you do laundry.....
Are you still going to do the baby room this weekend?

Yes, come hell or high water...we are beginning the nursery this weekend...possibly even tomorrow night. Until now, I've been putting all the shower gifts, baby stuff in the nursery, but today I worked on cleaning out the nursery so we can begin work. I hope to accomplish the following this weekend: stripping the wallpaper and prepping the walls (spackling/sanding/washing) for painting. I suspect next weekend we'll paint.
Of course, this entire plan will fly out the window if my water breaks... I don't know why, but I have a feeling this baby will be here BEFORE our scheduled c-section date. My husband gets all bent out of shape when I mention the possibility of it!

I use All Free N Clear because that it what my cloth diapering friends said to use on the diapers for the best results, so I figured if it was good enough for diapers which are pretty mu*****onstant contact with their most sensitive skin it was good enough for his clothes too. So I switched the whole family over to it and have been stocking up every time it is on sale.
I was Libbys clothes with the same detergent I wash mine and DH clothes with. I have never used anything "special" for hers. I figured that if she had a reaction then we would take care of it at that time. I LOVE the Kirkland brand eco friendly detergent, has a lavenderish scent to it. It used to be made by Wintree and then Kirkland decided to put their name on it. It is $14 a HUGE bottle and lasts us a few months. I love that stuff, I actually don't even use fabric softener anymore! Oh and it is HE

OMG - you are 34 weeks already??? Time flies!
So, I used dreft for Bailey until she was 1 year - it cost a fortune. Honestly this time around I have been using Tide. It is a natural free type..... love it!! Got a huge jug of it for sale for $11 - much cheaper than $20!!!!
