What to give kiddos to drink instead of milk?

Dylan has been having stomach issues for the last two days.  She's the pickiest eater on a good day, but trying to feed her when she doesn't want to eat is even worse.  Can't say that I blame her.

I know about the BRAT diet, but what can I give her to drink instead of milk while she tries to get this out of her system?   I haven't tried pedialyte, but that's my next step.  However, I doubt she will drink it.   I don't want her to get dehydrated.

She has been drinking milk for about a month so I don't think it's a lactose issue.  I mean could she suddenly develop issues after a month?  Dylan was the child on soy formula because she had issues with regular formula, but we learned instantly that she had issues with it.

She has no fever, no rash, doesn't seem to phased by her constant bathroom trips, etc.

I'm going to have to call her pedi if this keeps up, but I wanted to take milk out of the equation first to see if that works.

Edit to add:   She had yogurt for breakfast and didn't have any "issues".   She had her normal milk about 30 minutes ago and "issue" city.  LOL

My dr's office recommends diluted apple juice, and definately cut the milk!  Otherwise, go to the pedialyte.  Hope it helps!

Have you tried any of the soy milks or juices?? My younger brother was allergic to Milk, Whey, Eggs, and all that. We had to give him only soy based products.

My lactose allergy came and went without notice.  I got really sick with the flu and started to notice after wards that when I ate I got stomach aches.  The aches turned to pain, the pain turned to running to the potty, then to days of pain, bloating and potty.  When I finally started tracking it, it turns out it was lactose (in any form).  It got really bad and I literally couldn't eat anything cooked or uncooked with lactose in it. Hence I now know MANY drugs have it as a filler.  I got to the point where 1 bite made me feel like I was dying for days.  It was crazy...saw a specialist and was told sometime that happens, the body just refuses to tolerate a substance-and that if it happens after an illness it would probably go away on its own.  He advised I try it occasionally...hum no.  Well- after 3 plus years, I tried it and was okay again.  Ironically, my mother tells me as an infant I could not tolerate regular formula or milk, but I out grew it.  My adopted daughter can tolerate ice cream, dairy, etc...but if she has several oz of milk she usually gets a stomach ache.  I know my Dr always tells me to avoid dairy when not 100%.

So I say anything is possible.  I give very watered down juice, milk, she loved ice tea (I know but she mooches it)...water, watered down lemonade, tomato juice / veggie juice,  she'll try almost anything but I understand your Dylan is a bit more picky.

My kids would never drink pedialyte, our doctor said to give them watered down apple juice. I had to take my daughter off milk for a couple months and then tried it again when she was a little older and then it was fine.

Good Luck,
Emily

I would try lactaid milk or soy milks. My best friends daughter did this.  She could eat certain milk things like cheese and yogurt but when it came to drinking it she had to do Soy or Lactaid.  She was about 2 when they figured out that the Lactaid worked best.  Hope this helps.
