How early

HCG levels are considered normal if they are 5 or under - over 5 and there may be a possible pregnancy. Home tests pick up levels around 20-25... you'll start to get a nice clear pink line around 35 and higher.
7 days post conception with my first I was in the hosp for a gastric ulcer and the blood test did not show - I was in the hosp for 4 days and when they did routine blood work on the 4th day -- that's 11 days post conception my HCG level was a 12... they ordered a vaginal ultrasound and saw a sac with just fluid inside - way too early to see anything else. I’ve had many miscarriages and wasn't even due for my period for a few days so I dismissed it not wanting the pain of hope again.
11 days later a home preg test was positive… as was the 8 I took after that :).
That being said - all HCG levels rise differently - there is some sort of standard but you cannot compare against others.
From all my miscarriages (6) and 2 pregnancies I would think that not too many Dr's would be willing to do a blood test for pregnancy because 1 in 3 pregnancies end in miscarriage and most w/o the mother even knowing... it's just like a regular period with more intense cramps.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
