I haven't jumped on here yet :) I am usually over on the VSG site. I am 15 weeks now, and I continue to lose weight. I started at 151 and now I am 146.I suprisingly got pregnant at 9 months post op.I am eating every 20 min all day long I feel like, to not throw up. So I feel like I am eating plenty. Is this normal? My doc doesnt quite understand the whole WLS thing, and she is highrisk. She has not said anything, but I am worried a little.....

Please talk to your surgeons office and/or your nutritionist because they will be able to make sure you are eating enough calories and getting all the nutrition you and the baby need. Many people say they still lose during pregnancy and the baby is still fine. Just check with the doctors who know WLS so you can be sure for you! I wish you all the best.

My OB said about 1/3 of women lose weight in their first trimester. I didn't really start gaining until after 14-15 weeks myself. It would be good to talk to your doctor and see about getting some zofran is you're having a lot of nausea, it will make eating a lot easier.

I lost a total of 8 pounds in the first trimester and have only gained a positive of 3 pounds the whole pregnancy...the doctor says the baby will get what they need and you will be the one to suffer...Just make sure you stay on the vitamins and try your best to eat healthy you will be fine...

I lost 17 pounds since being pregnant. Gained a few and lost some more. Never can keep it on. I dont really throw up either. Maybe 4 or 5 times since being pregnant which is not bad for my pregnancies. So I would not worry too much. Long as baby is growing and all then its good. After 20 weeks I started getting a monthly growth scan on my baby girl to watch her growth and not mine since mine does not mean anything to the docs. Man I feel unnneeded when they say it that way. Just the ole oven here myself.

I am over 27 weeks now and I am still slowly losing weight but my baby is measuring 6.5 days ahead so baby and I are doing great! I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as all your labs come back normal and baby is growing on schedule!

I only gained 2 lbs my entire pregnancy and that was only done in the last 6 weeks.  My ob said as long as my LO was measuring well and he was growing she wasn't concerned.  He was born at 38 weeks at 6 lbs 10 oz...my water broke.  He's a perfectly healthy almost 7 month old now!  Who is crawling, standing up and getting into everything!

Congrats!

It's "normal" to continue to lose during a pregnancy when you are an early WLS post-op.  Just make sure the baby gets what it needs . . . well the baby will always get what it needs from you.

Best,
L

I finally gained 2 pounds my last visit 2 days before I had my son in July!  So, I gained a whole 2 pounds the entire pregnancy!    With my daughter 2 years ago, I gained a total of 14 pounds the entire pregnancy!  No need to worry, baby will take what it needs!
