Pregnant after WLS and Tummy tuck?

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum since I had both of my children before I had WLS in Aug.2006
In April 2008 I also had a tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation...HB and I thought we were definitely finished having children.
As of late..we have been seriously discussing a third child. I am doing all the research I can on pregnancy after the DS procedure as well as after a tummy tuck. There is a lot of conflicting info out there but thought I would post here to see if anyone could give some first hand accounts and experience.
Thanks all!!

I cannot help you with the tummy tuck aspect because I haven't had one yet, but I can help you with info on the pregnancy post DS.

We have the same surgeon.   I have 1 year old twins and I am currently pregnant with number 3.  I had no real complications with the twin pregnancy.  I was placed on modified bed rest starting at week 20 and full bed rest at week 27.  However, this was not a result of me having the gastric bypass, just me carrying twins.

This pregnancy has been complication free.   The only thing that I did need with both pregnancies were a series of 3 iron infusions.  To date,  I have not needed another infusion.

Dr. L's office has different views on vitamins during pregnancy than my OB and I always defer to my OB in that regard.

Obviously we cannot eat large amounts of food, so I just eat more often.   Oh and I am 8 and a half years post-op.

I gained 43 pounds with the twins and at last Dr appointment I had a gained a total of 11 pounds with this pregnancy.   I do not expect to gain more than 25 pounds this time around.

THank you for your reply!

How did you find losing the weight after the twin pregnancy?

I think what helped me was that I was a gym rat before getting pregnant with the twins.   So it was a lot easier to get into an exercise routine after they were born.

We had to go through fertility treatments both times, so I wasn't done losing all the baby weight from the twins when I started fertility meds.   I had about 15 pounds left to lose.

I have no doubt that I will lose all the baby weight this time around because I am motivated and determined to do so.  Really, that's all it takes.  Our stomachs will take care of the rest for us.

I am developing a hernia and talked to my surgeon about TT's and pregnancy. He did say that it would get stretched out but nothing like before. So ya shouldn't look like yu did before the TT.

I had my DS 08/12/2002 and my TT 11/17/2003 thinking I was done having kids to.

Well in 2007 I had my 3rd son LOL. It was a WONDERFUL pregnancy- I loved it- I did hve iron issues but was great other then that. My skin is not as tight as before I got pregnant but that is about it.

Good Luck!

I had my DS in 2005, my Lower-Body-Lift and upper-body-lift in 2007 and baby in 2009 !

Maybe I looked a little strange while pregnant - more boxy and less "baby bumpish" from the tightness -- and my weight gain (30lbs) was a lot in my hips and thighs (where I had no lipo suction done).

My stomach stretched out a bit from pregnancy -- but the big rolls of skin didn't return (of course).  I feel like a "normal" woman who has given birth -- with a bit of a pooch and about 15lbs I'd like to lose.

My vitamins were ok for the most part -- I went low on vitamin D and K and supplemented a lot of iron and calcium (although I normally do that).   I did not have to have iron infusions.

Baby is healthy and happy!

(I was considered "high risk" because of my malaborption -- saw a fetal maternal specialist for an ultrasound every month to check baby and make sure he was growing well.)

Take Care,

Cindy

I had RNY 9/05 and a anchor cut TT 11/06 thinking I was done having kids. Well here I am 33weeks pregnant with twin girls. I was nervous about the TT comfort wise. But I haven't had any discomfort for it at all. I think my tummy is alot smaller then it would be if I didn't have the TT, but both girls are growing good. I really couldn't ask for a better pregnancy.
