Got to love MI.......NOT!

So has everyone heard this story about the mom who has been watching her neighbors kids before the bus comes to pick them up?   We are talking 15-40 minutes with parent approval.

Long story short, someone in the neighborhood complained to DHS that she was running an unlicensed childcare facility out of her home.  DHS sent her a stop order that basically said, get a license or face fines and jail time.

The woman then asked, what about a play date?  DHS then told her that would also be illegal if the parents were not at home, even if the parents gave approval.  Are you effin kidding me!!!

Then we have the issue of a babysitter.   Well, I guess they would need to be licensed, otherwise I would need to be home in order for them to not be licensed and watch my kids.   Um, that defeats the purpose now doesn't it?

So when I go to deliver Maryn, I have to leave the kids with a licensed childcare provider.  BITE ME MI, BITE ME!     I doubt that anyone would be knocking on my door to check, but still.  Can we get any more ridiculous than this one?

I guess in MI it takes a licensed village to raise a child.

That is just obsurd!! SO I guess the days of teenage girls taking a 'babysitting class' and watching kids is over... Therefore if this rule applies in PA I should be expecting the fines to roll in at any minute because I have unlawfully babysat.

What is this world coming to!?

That is just ludicrus (sp?)!!! DHS has its place (in every state) but they need to be focusing on the actual children that need them ya know? ughhh such a pet peeve of mine!

I had heard something about this on the news but didn't get the full details. That is INSANE.
People need to mind their own damn business.

DHS should be jumping up and down with joy that she found someone to take care of the kids instead of leaving them alone. "It's only for 15-40 minutes, how much trouble can they get into?"

I am sure it is because we are run by a Canadian governor. The same one who is forcing my RN husband to take furlough days and paying my rich GM neighbor to go to nursing school. Take the tax money from a family of 6 to pay a man who made $125,000 a year and blew it all so he can try to take my husband's job.

As for the day care situation, the people involved should go flood DSS with applications for child care. After all, in this great state if you have 10 children and collect welfare, you can also get a HUGE amount from the federal government to go to school and even more from the state government to pay your babysitter.

Yeah we live in one backwards state dont we.....
Sometimes legislature makes laws with good intentions but stupid application...
And sometimes its old laws that are hardly ever enforced till someone gets a bug up their bootie.

All the neighbor has to do is say "I want my friend/relative to watch my kids for XX amount of time" DHS will give the go-ahead and PAY THEM to watch the kids.... well, as long as the family is low income, that is... How do I know this? My parents got paid for watching my niece! One of my sisters got paid for watching the other sister's kids. And, when I had my RNY, one of my sisters got paid to watch my oldest son during the first few weeks after surgery. So, even DHS has its loopholes!
