PREGNANT IN SOFL POST WLS

I am 3 years post op and 4 months pregnant with my first baby.  I am afraid to gain weight, I am afraid I would be able to lose weight, I am afraid I will pick up bad habits that I cant break.  Not to mention my baby doctor, my surgeon, my primary and my nutritionist are all telling me different things.

There is no one in my surgery support group that is pregnant - I know one person locally who has been pregnant post op.  If anyone else in South Florida is currently pregnant and post op and you would like to join a virtual (or real life) support circle - please email me at [email protected]

I could use the support and I am sure you could too! Lets be there for each other.

Welcome to the support group here. I find this to be all the support I need anymore. These people here are the best!! I come here for everything. Gaining weight and being afraid to lose is all normal. I dont doubt each and every one of us has felt this.
Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to the board!!

Hello,

I'm not in Florida, but I know that the weight gain had me worried because I remember how comfortable the old me was with weight. Just know that this is weight gain with a purpose and when it has fulfilled its purpose, you're gonna get rid of it. You just have to eat healthy now and then go back to your pre-pregnancy lifestyle soon after you deliver...You will do wonderfully.

Just wanted to welcome you and say congratulations AND to let you know what you are feeling is sooooo normal! I was a mess and probably annoyed the poop out of everyone on here worried about gaining weight and how was I going to lose what I gained! SO I didn't gain much at first but then ended up gaining a whopping 40lbs and was sooooo stressed OUT but guess what even with eating some bad things I lost all my baby weight PLUS two pounds by my 6 weeks check up! And I tell you I am still working on getting rid of some of the bad habits I picked up again while pregnant but since my cravings and munchies have gone away it is easier!
Try not to stress yourself out of it as it really won' t help and I wish I had taken the advice of everyone and not stressed so much!
Best of luck and you should find lots of support here!!
Beth

Thanks guys - yes I am definitely driving my DH nuts saying things like "does this make me look pregnant" LOL

It was so hard to maintain and I gained about 30lbs from my lowest weight before I got pregnant and struggled with that - so getting pregnant I worry more about getting the weight off afterward.  I have gained net about 6lbs since I got pregnant (I lost 11lbs because of morning sickness) but I just hear horror stories about ppl gaining hundreds of lbs with baby.

I am try not to stress and trying to enjoy food and the fact that I have permission to eat! :)

TY - thats cool Lexa... do u go to support group at CC?  I am going tonight... my OBGYN is at Memorial Regional in Hwd.  How did your 1st pregnancy go? How much weight did you gain and did you lose it afterwards? Did you have any complications because of the surgery?

I'm not pregnant, BUT, I AM in South Florida! I have 3 kids, my youngest being 15 months old. I'd love to meet up sometime, if possible, with any of the S. FL ladies on here! I have no rl friends.... really, I don't. Sad, huh? I've been here almost 3 years now.... Anyway, pm me sometime! =)
