Tristan Lucas' Birth Story
So our adventure began Monday evening at 8pm. We arrived at the hospital with nothing happening to my cervix to have Cervadil inserted. Nothing changed overnight and around 7am, the stated dripping Pitocin. Around 10am I had progressed to 1 cm and they broke my water (which there was TONS of, even though the ultrasound had been showing low fluid since 31 weeks). Three hours later I had progressed to 3/4 cm and was in a lot of pain so I had an epidural. I was happily in bliss for 3 hours with very strong contractions… unfortunately I did not continue to progress. Around hour 4, I began to feel the contractions again and “bumping up the epidural" did nothing. Something had gone wrong with my epidural. The Dr checked me and said he’d give me another hour to progress since he knew I wanted to do this vaginally, but that Tristan’s head seemed stuck and was swelling on top. 5 minutes later I was in agony… by the time the Dr came back I was done. I told him “Don’t even bother checking me, just get him out!" …. He checked me anyway (with no progress) and I went in for a C-section. I was petrified, but I was in so much pain, that I was up for anything. However, one of my worst nightmares came true in the ER. The Doctors didn’t believe that I could feel things and they continued to give me meds through my epidural. WHICH DID NOT WORK. By the time they had opened me up and were taking out my bladder, they understood that I could feel much more than pressure and they knocked me out with some drug ****tail. Ironically enough, I could hear Tristan crying while I was in La-La land which brought me too and I could see they cleaning him up and Brad was taking pictures. Next thing I know, I woke up in recovery with my 9 pound 21 inch baby boy screaming his very healthy lungs off. J I nursed as soon as I stopped shaking from the drugs and spent a few days in the hospital.
All in all, nothing went to plan, but I don’t care because I have my perfect baby boy here. I really don’t know if we’ll do it again, but the prospect of doing it again with everything that went wrong with the epidural seems a little scary to me.
Thanks to Renae for posting here for me, and thanks to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers!

Awwwwwww he's beautiful hon!! Congrats to you on his safe arrival... I'm so very happy for you!!
P.S. My edidural never worked either with Zander... I felt everything but he was delivered naturally... And am so very thankful he was on the small side... The doc seemed to think that with all the weight I lost that had something to do with the way my spine was... They attempted 5 times on me and thought it was in the right way but alas it still wasn't... So I feel for you!!

What a long and painful journey, but so glad you and Tristan are healthy.
Congratulations on the arrival of your sweet baby boy.
You're a trooper, Victoria! When he's older and starts to give you a hard time, be sure to remind him about your HG! LOL

He's a cutie! I'm sorry the birth was such an ordeal...I can't believe they'd even question it when you told them you could feel what they were doing! I'm glad he arrived safe and sound though...and hope your recovery is easier than the delivery. Enjoy your little boy...and congrats to you and your husband.
