Hey Guys,

Of course you know I love each and everyone of you and I am so grateful to have found an awesome support group within each and everyone of you ladies.

Ok enough mushy crap    LOL

I went in for my appointment yesterday after work at 5:15 PM. I took my one of my close girlfriends for support. I was a bit nervous but just ready to see if I was progressing and see if my little one had a heart beat. It seemed as if we were in the room forever waiting on my gynie to come. she hooked up the machine and I got my third transvaginal ultrasound within a month (yay) LOL.. anyways.. there was my bean... bigger than when I last saw him/her 2 weeks ago and do you know that his heart was beating for mommy ? I saw the flicker. OMG.. I was just mesmorized.  The Dr. turned the lights off in the room so that I could get a better look. I cant even detail many of the emotions I went through in the next two minutes. I cant believe someone is inside of me the size of a raspberry with their (own) heart beating. Amazing.

Just to think that after that whole emergency room scare. I was attempting to detach myself from my pregnancy. My little one and God had a different plan. Ladies all I can say is that second oppinions and prayers are always the best way to go! I go back Friday (for them to take blood and get more urine) Then back in another 3 weeks for another ultrasound and then she mentioned some type of testing I need to be set up for during week 11 or 12.

Oh and guess which Mother Goose is adding on the freaking pounds ? I gained an even 5lbs (woah) How did some of you do with your weight gain at 8 weeks ?

Luv You All,

Jasmin C.

Congrats Jasmin!

Regarding weight gain I was horrible, gained 16 pounds at 8 weeks and went on to gain 70 the entire pregnancy. I was on a free for all, I ate everything and anything I wanted in large quantities.

I think you put the wrong 'smiley' on your post caption.  I think it should have been this one...

with a HUGE grin on your face!  I'm so happy you got to see the heartbeat...and pray it continues in the same manner until you're holding your little one in a few months.  Now try to relax and ENJOY YOUR PREGNANCY!

Hey Jasmin,

Hallelujah!!!!!  I am soooo happy to hear your good news!  I can't remember exactly how much I had gained at 8 weeks, but initially I was really bloated and my weight fluctuated.  Now..I am at about a 6 lb gain and I am not feeling bloated anymore.

I can't wait to see my bean again at 18 weeks.  Hopefully, they will be able to tell me if it is a girl or boy by then.

Take care...

That is great news...and the weight- just try to control eating- they tell me the extra calories I need are equal to a yogurt and apple a day.  (Beacause I have a good intake).  But usually at the early phase (1st trimester) it's bloat.  Oh- and BTW I don't follow the yogurt apple suggestion...LOL I eat when I am hungry and feel the need- I think I have gained 12 pounds at this point but I am not positive (I don't look!).  I know when I hit 10 lbs they lectured me- and since have only said it's good (they want a max of 15 because of new standards).  Keep the good news coming.

Your post brought tears to my eyes!

Yes - a miracle that something so small is living inside you.  It will be more miraculous when you begin to see details like arms / hands / feet / kidneys and even little fingers waving at you!  Then when they are born.... truly a miracle.

That 11-12 week test is probably the test to screen for birth defects (Downs and other Trisomey defects) and will include bloodwork and an ultrasound.

I gained 20-25 lbs in the first 4-5 months and not much after that.... (up and down).

Take care and thanks for the update!

Hi Jasmin

Congrats on your US visit. Looks like things are going great! I'm hoping I can see or hear something tomorrow but maybe its too early for me at only 6 weeks. As for weight, I have already gained 8 lbs and I am only 6 weeks. Don't know what's going on because I haven't even increased my calorie intake though I am eating smaller meals more frequently.
