I started using the Nuva Ring last month as our new form of BC. I was on a Oral BC prior and well now i have my Beautiful baby girl......so i really wanted to try something different this time.

I am really not enjoying it at all!  It is always coming out or poping out halfway.......anyone else with this problem? I have spoken with my Doctor and this seems to be a normal thing with the Nuva Ring.

Seriously, i was taking a shower looked down and noticed something on the shower floor ...similar to a bangle braclet...........nope it was the Nuva Ring, lol

That and i am currently on week 3 where you take out the ring and are suppose to have a period,..........well no period, and i am scheduled to place a new ring in on Friday. WTH? This is a game with this thing!

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Heather

I used the ring for two years and never had it come out, slip or anything.  I always shoved mine in as high up as I could get it - TMI, but true.

As far as the period thing, it's three full weeks that you keep the ring in and then at the beginning of the fourth week is when you take it out.  Your period will usually start in two-four days after taking it out and then after you place the new ring it will stop in a day or two.  Or, at least, that was my experience.  Other people I know have had only very light, scant periods while using the ring.

I hope it works out for you!  I loved NuvaRing because I never had to think about it.

I got pregnant while using the Nuva Ring, I was told it was because I was taking antibiotics, but then I found out that antibiotics are not supposed to affect it. So in my case it looked like it just failed to work (just my luck).

Personally, I would probably use a backup method at this point and talk to your doc about starting something else, it does not sound like its a good match for you.

I had the same experience as the first reply to your post. No slipping out ever, and I got my period same as she described as well. I loved it's convenience but I personally cannot take BC with hormones they make me severely moody. Good Luck!

I am also currently using NuvaRing and I have to say I am not thrilled with it either!  Although mine hasn't fallen out...yet....I am always feeling like it just about to!  I try to pu**** up there as much as I can, but Sometimes when I check to make sure it is still in-I can feel it like right there!  When I first got it my Dr checked to make sure it was in right and it was, but I am always feeling like (TMI) To me if feels like a tampon that needs to be changed!  To me it's annoying!
My Dr prescribed it for for me to leave in for 4 weeks then replace right away for 3 months so I only get a period 4x a year!  When I replaced it (I am on the 2nd month) I bleed for 2 1/2 weeks!  Not a ton but enough that I almost went in!  I was getting worried!  I go back to the Dr in Nov...I am thinking of changing to something else!

They say you CAN have it in for 4 weeks, but my dr prescribed it so that I used 4 consecutively (3 weeks each) for the 12 weeks (3 months) and never had any issues with it.

HTH!

I used the ring for three months and thought I would get used to it; but like you...it would slip and always coming out (they said you could wear it during sex, but that never worked).  I stopped after the third try.  You are supposed to do it for three weeks and you period should be during week four.  I was having trouble having one at all, so I never had one on the ring either.

Good luck with it!

humm weird, I really liked it.  I'll prob go back on it after the baby.  Mine never fell out once, I used it for a year.  I did have a chemical pregnancy on it, but I was on hardcore antibiotics for bronchitis and 2 ear infections.  It just may not be for you, I HATED the pill, that's why I switched

Hi,
I used it for about 2 1/2 years (from surgery up until the point of ttc this year) and I never had an issue of it coming out, but I have read of that happening to some people.

As as far as when AF is supposed to show up, I am not sure because I used them consecutively for 3 months (4 x3 weeks) and then had AF a few days after taking the last one out.

Not sure if this helps, but there it is :)

The  only thing I ever liked about the Nuva Ring was a really interesting game of ring toss once. It didn't work so much for me.
