aww i think he just misses you.. and since he has you wrapped around around each of his fingers and his toes he knows you will come running :)

awww, he's adorable! At around 3 to 4 mos, babies start to understand cause and effect (on a very basic level). They no longer only cry out of reflex, they actually start to be able to control it a little.

IMHO, he is missing you. Try the scent comfort. Sleep with one of his blankets and then have him sleep with it. Does he have a mobile or crib aquarium? Something he can see or hear that will shut off? Self-soothing can be taught and he will eventually start to grasp that out of sight doesn't mean gone.

In the meantime, enjoy those smiles at the sight of his Mommy!
