I know what you mean about the crying!  One minute it is exciting and I can't wait, but then I have cried like everyday for the past 2 weeks!

Aethyn eats a lot of the things you said too, I just don't know what to do for "dinners" ...and I am not sure how much to feed him!    He doesn't really like the meat/ noodle type things!  Today he had beef ravioli and he spit it out!  Would not eat it!  I bought eggs, but I have not tried it yet!  I think he gets tired of the same things for breakfast!  He always wants what we have, but when I try it on his own plate he hates it!
I have such a hard time with his formula...as soon as we run out -We have a little powder (1/4th of the container)and we have 3 cans of Ready To Feed that I am going to mix with part milk, then when that's out... all milk!   Not sure what I will do if he hates that!

We are still in the trial and error phase with Jack and Dylan.   I just started feeding them table food.  Jack loves anything and everything, but Dylan, she likes nothing.

Breakfast is either oatmeal, eggs, whole grain waffles, yogurt, etc.   I try to give them a fruit with breakfast as well.

Lunch has been PB&J, soup (homemade matzo ball), roast chicken, sweet potatoes, veggies, etc.

Dinner is generally what we are eating.  The other night I made chicken burgers and gave them some of that.   I cook all the time so I'm always in my kitchen concocting something.

I did break down the other day because I made this huge feast for dinner, and gave Jack some Beefaroni.  He loved it.   That will not be something routine in my house.    Also, with Dylan, I have learned to just keep giving her certain things to try over and over again.   She likes her baby oatmeal, but hates Quaker Oats.   However, today was the 4th time trying it and she didn't mind it as much.

My suggestion is if you find a few foods that he likes, keep feeding him those foods.   I know it will probably seem like he's eating the same thing over and over again, but I'm sure he will eventually start to venture out and try other things.

Your always so helpful when you post!  Thanks!  You give me hope that my child is normal!  LOL!  Whatever that is!

We just stared giving him some of the Gerber pasta pickups...that's what the ravioli was, but he didn't like it...he likes stage 3's though!  Maybe it was a texture thing!  I guess your right though that if I feed him the same things over and over and he isn't minding it...then I guess it isn't that big of a deal!
I love to cook, but it don't do it often because it is just a pain for 1 person!  Maybe it will be easier when Aethyn is a little older!
Have you switched them over to milk yet?  If so was it an easy transition?  Are you doing cow's milk/soy milk?  Not sure what I am going to do if he ends up not liking it!

They are now completely off formula and drinking regular milk.  It took about a week and a half and we have them drinking organic milk.

I was worried about Dylan because she drank soy formula for the longest time, but about a month ago we gradually introduced her to regular formula to prepare her.   She has had no tolerance issues whatsoever.

Getting them off the bottle, well that's going to be another story.  LOL

I am with you on our little guys turning 1....ugh...where has the time gone? :( Are you having plans for his party? What size is he wearing these days?

So glad you posted this....I am trying out new things with Nathan too and he is a gagger...he is doing better at daycare then at home it seems too....maybe he knows I am a sucker to give him a bottle....

Today he finally did Gerber yogurt and he liked it...he does not have teeth yet (well one little ridge is showing that is it) so he really cannot chew...it is sure cute watching him try to put things in his mouth though because he misses and the other night he had fish and cheerios all over his bib and was trying to peel them off....ugh....

So, I can commiserate (sp) with you.....he is one picky eater for sure....and am trying to be patient....he does not like textured baby food at all (ex. the spaghetti). I am going to make some mashed potatoes and more veggies for him this week...it is super hard for me to plan for daycare when I cannot get him figured out on food....and I do not want to just let them feed him what they are feeding the other kids right now. The menu does not totally look nutrious enough (ex. biscuits, jelly, pancakes, etc.). Part of me is that I am so worried of feeding him badly too as I am so paranoid not to have him grow up with bad eating habits like me. :( I am also like you on dinners....cooking just for me sometimes I do not make the best dinner choices (like I had McDonald's yesterday and ended up giving him tiny pieces of my fries..ugh). I really think when Nate finally gets here it will be better but trying to manage before that is hard...ugh....

Just curious...is he going to be getting milk in a sippy cup or bottle? I am trying to get Nathan used to a sippy cup and he is not there yet...I tried a straw one today and he is not sucking out of the straw yet...ugh....oh well, patience I guess.....

Anyway, good luck and thanks for posting....I needed to see the posts again :)

xoxo

Hey!  I am SOOO sad Aethyn is 1 already!  I look forward to all the fun and exciting things the second year will bring, but I REALLY miss my tiny cuddly little guy!  I cry ALL the time!  When I think about it, when I watch him sleep, when he is playing!

We are just having a Grill Out on his birthday!  James' co-workers and some of the people I used to work with and their families!   A few kids but we don't know very many!  We plan to grill and have a fire make smores play games-that type of thing!    Then we are having a small family party on Oct 3rd.  It is going to be with my cousin's little man who turned 1 yesterday!  It is So neat that they are so close in age!!  Right now Aethyn is wearing 12 month size!  He has been staying pretty true to size so far!

Aethyn just got his teeth not that long ago! (He had a dentist appt last week and he fell in the waiting room and opened his gums where his upper tooth was coming through...he was bleeding all over...daddy was freaking out...he just made it easier for it to come through the dentist said)
It is funny watching Aethyn feed himself too!  Most end up in his lad or to the dogs!  He LOVES feeding the dogs!  He laughs!
It is very hard to cook for 1 person and then a little one!  Aethyn has had fries too...he loved them, but I hate giving him that kind of thing!  I want to keep him healthy and happy!  I defiantly don't want him to have the weight problems I had!  I want him to be able to make good choices!
Aethyn uses a sippy cup, but he WILL NOT hold it himself!  He never would hold a bottle nor the sippy cup by himself!  He weaned himself of the bottle at 9 months!  He just decided after the Dr said start thinking about...that that would be the day!  Ever since he has been a sippy cup boy!  Aethyn has JUST started to get the straw thing!  He actually really likes it I think!  What I had to do though is (Yes this is bad) I bought the Little (4oz) Juicy Juice Apple juice and put the straw in his mouth and kind of squeezed it a little to get it going!  It only took him a couple times and he was a pro!  Now he drinks from any straw!  It is cute to watch his little lips pucker up on the straw!  One day I left one on the coffee table while I had to go do something and James was watching him and he found it there-when James turned away for a minute and when he turned back around Aethyn had found it and sucking away at it!  He said it was SOO cute!  Funny Kids!!!
Hope that helped you a little too!  I need all the suggestions I can get!  LOL!!

Our doctor gave Laurel the go ahead for Cheerios at 6 mos and soft table food at 7.  By 9 mos she was off baby food.  She has really good dexterity so wanted to feed herself.  She is 14 months now and can use a fork.

The only food she doesn't like is eggs and pasta (yes, she hates Mac N Cheese!).

Here's a typical day for us:

WAKE UP
1/2 juice 1/2 water in a sippy
She will finish the whole thing!

BREAKFAST
1/2 banana (or 1 wedge of cut up canteloupe)
1/2 Multigrain English Muffin w/ Veggie Cream Cheese

SNACK
Milk in a sippy (usually won't drink it - only wants her bottle for milk)

LUNCH
Turkey luncheon meat, precooked chicken or turkey meatballs
1 cup (approx) mixed veggies (Birdseye peas, carrots, beans, corn)

SNACK
1/2 small pear
or yogurt
or cheese stick
or or Goldfish crackers

DINNER
Whatever we're eating
ie. chicken breast, rice and broccoli

**BEDTIME
Milk in a bottle (sigh)

**She gets water all day long in a sippy

I think the key is just to make sure food is sort of structured (ie eating at the table together). Sorry your hubby has to work so late.
