Feeding a 1 year old (Again) When did they start to eat/like table food?
OK, so Aethyn will be 1 in a week and a half (Sob...I have been taking this REALLY hard!!) When he started on the whole fruits and Veggies and stuff like that I tried to make him homemade baby food...He HATED it! So I ended up just buying jarred baby food! Well, now that he is almost 1 we are trying to start him on table food...2 problems with that 1. I don't know what to feed him! I know everyone says just give him what you eat...well that is not so easy...a lot of the time I don't eat Especially breakfast and lunch...I just snack on cheese and fruit and stuff like that really--but not meals! Dinner is also a challenge because I am not much of a cook and We tend to eat late because DH works until 11pm right now thanks to a co-worker who got fired! So what do you feed your Little one? And then 2. Aethyn keeps spitting it out! He likes fruits and most veggies but as far as main food he hates it! He spits out all meats and noodles and stuff like that! I am really at a loss...he can't eat baby food forever! I just don't know what to do! Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA!!!!!!!!

Happy early B-day Aethyn! For breakfast Hannah would have baby cheerios, yogurt, or part of a cereal bar. Lunch is typically mac and cheese or some sort of chicken. At 19 months she still won't eat any fish or red meat, except she loves pizza. Dinner is chicken, pasta, french fries or cheese. I haven't found any veggies she will eat. She likes corn and potatoes, but I consider those starches.
I've really struggled getting her to eat anything at all. She was sick a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't give her milk for 6 days. She would eat anything I put in front of her. She was filling up on milk and not wanting food. I called her ped. and found out the least amount of milk she could have. As long as she eats dairy she can get by with 18 ounces. She was drinking more than that at bed time!
I know Aethyn still needs a lot of milk/formula now, but I wanted to share that with you for future reference.
Good luck from a mommy of a picky eater to another.

Thanks for the suggestions Amy!!! I have a hard time with it too because he only has a couple teeth (He just got his top 2) so I am afraid that he can't chew it well enough! He like goldfish and stuff like that but once in awhile he won't chew it and he kind of gags/chokes on it! Then I get scared! I have a REALLY hard time getting Aethyn to drink! He gets 3 oz at each meal but I have to trick him and add yogurt! (Before that I had to use a syringe) Not sure what I am going to do if he hates milk too! I feel like he is getting tired of the same old things because every morning it's yogurt milk and baby oatmeal, then for lunch/dinner they have limited stage 3 options...so it always seems like the same things!

I know what you mean about being a cry baby!!! I have cried like everyday for the past 2 weeks! DH keeps telling me "He has to grow up! You knew that was going to happen!" Well Duh, but that doesn't make it any easier!!!
Thanks for the suggestions...sounds like Jayson eats well! Aethyn likes some of those things, but I feel like I keep feeding him the same things! He doesn't have very many teeth, so I get scared that he can't chew it well enough! I will have to try some of the other things you mentioned! He doesn't like any of the meat type things...he just spits it out and he had ravioli today and wouldn't eat it at all! I have been doing the Gerber toddler cups of food and like fruit cups/fresh fruit and Wal mart has like a veggie cup...like the fruit cups, but with veggies. We do a lot of cheese and goldfish and yogurt melts and Cheerios.
I have a hard time getting him to drink his milk so I am not sure what I am going to do if he hates milk! Sigh!!

Wal-Mart makes the veggie cups! They are a Great Value thing! I was hesitant at first, but they are not too bad actually! They have corn, peas, carrots, and Green beans! You just microwave them. (They come in a little cup with water to cook them, but we just put them on his plate and cook it with the rest of his stuff)

I totally know what you are feeling. I am so incredibly sad that Josiah is almost 1. I could cry 1 minute and the next I am excited about planning his party...
I am blessed Josiah eats almost anything. He eats grilled cheese, all veggies(peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, green beans, squash etc...) and fruit (watermelon, cantiloupe, pineapple, apple, pears, peaches, blueberries, mango etc), cottage cheese, chicken, turkey lunch meat (organic, nitrate free), homemade turkey meatballs, pasta, yogurt, oatmeal, cheerios... I am sure there is more but that is all I can think of for now. Oh... I tried scrambled eggs today and he gagged... I think because it was new. We ate breakfast after he did and I made a spinach and cheddar frittata and the little beggar came over and ate that so who know. LOL
