I had my first OB appt. today. Very exciting! Had my ultrasound and saw heartbeat for the first time. But I was a little upset to hear that due to all the complication there will be no moe VBAC done at any of the hospitals in my area at least! I am so upset. The only reason I had a C section with my last child was the fact that she was breech! Anyways, just wanted to know if anyone else had heard of this. Thanks Tammy

My hospital also stopped doing VBAC...They said it was a problem with getting an anesthesiologist in time if an emergency arose. I dont know if I buy it...but I sadly had my second c-section 10 months ago. I did have a healthy baby though, so I guess that is the point of it all.  Good luck to you. :)

My doctors and none in the area will do VBACS either. I am a little disappointed, mainly because my first two children were vaginal deliveries. My third child was a c-section so I really know the difference in recovery and it stinks. I am going to be thrilled just to have a healthy baby and going to try and not worry about it.

My OB does them (so apparently the hospital allows it) but he told me "if you were my wife, I'd push for the section again" and he's an awesome guy.  Tells everything straight.  However, I'm having twins and I've read that they don't do VBAC on twins.  Too risky.  BUMMER as I am really not looking forward to another section!  The last one really sucked.  :-(

My HMO and Perientologist are going to allow me a trial of labor...with a few conditions. Baby is already measuring big, so if too big they worry he won't come through my pelvis, like with my daughter. Also, they do not use any drugs to induce labor or enhance it, as it could cause a uterine/placenta rupture to force labor. So, the plan of action so far is trial of labor for 10 hours max. My 1st was a 26 hour labor after a broken water, with pitocin and never got past a 9...her head got stuck and I had a c. But, my wound wouldn't heal, had to be reopened 2 times and had to be readmitted to the hospital and have a wound vac for 2+ months. So...for me...the vbac is a no brainer. I can't imagine trying to heal and infected wound with a toddler and a newborn. Of course I am keeping an open mind. I do know that if I labor too long and still have a c that my chances for infection increase because I am more vulnerable. I just have this feeling it will either progress super slow like last time, and I/doctor will know it....or it will just be a really quick progression and there will be no question about being able to do the vbac.

Either way it sucks they won't let you try. But, there are risks. They say vbac is better for mom, but repeat c is better for baby. Shari

This will be my 4th child. My first child was born by c-section for breech position. I successfully had 2 VBACS after that. The group that I'm seeing now will allow me to try for another VBAC this time, but it may be because I've had 2 previous ones.
