Lap Band Problems and pregnancy
Hi All-
I've been banded since August 2006 and recently found out I am pregnant. Before pregnancy, my band was giving me some problems in terms of feeling too tight so I had it unfilled completely and the pain went away. Now for the last couple of weeks, I'm finding that I have more restriction than ever even though I am completely unfilled.
I have a hard time eating regular portion and always seem to end up with gas discomfort/shoulder pain. I am afraid that I won't be able to get proper nutrition if this continues.
Has anyone experienced this?
Also, I threw up about a week ago for the first time since I've had my band and found it extremely painful....I normally feel better after PB's but this had my whole throat/nect hurting an hour later.
If you have any insight, please share.
Thanks,
LC

Thoughts become things.
Okay - don't be scared by my insight but take it for what it is worth.
Last month, I discovered that my band had slipped and had to have emergency band removal surgery while 32 weeks pregnant. Moral of the story is... see your surgeon, as many times as it takes. What I went through was very rare.
OB/GYNs are not qualified to handle our needs and a surgeon can help you. It is most likely something easy. Good luck to you!!

so i was banded in feb 09 and had 2-3 aggressive fills under fluro...not knowing what a sweet spot was and good restriction was ...i thought since i was barely able to eat...and if i did it was liquids in small portions...was great restriction. i am sure many people will read this and say how didnt you know...but i got sick with extreme respitory problems with acute athsma and pneumoinia and hospitalized for a week. when my surgeon visited me in the hospital he said most likely i was swollen from all the coughing and the swelling of being on steroids probably made my band feel tighter. so needless to say he was right...it got better....i then i went for another fill under fluro and found out i was pregnant...i had horrible morning sickness and could barely eat..got stuck alot and vommited...eventually i went for a complete unfill...it felt great but even with an unfill i still can have good restiction, cant eat early, and will get stuck if i dont chew little pieces...
and to boot when i say i had aggressive fills my total was 2.7 in a 10cc band. my point is everyones body is different and reacts different to the band. like every said follow up with your surgeon..he knows best...
