Please Help! Dizzy, Weak....
Hi everyone,
I'm 23 weeks along and have been having some ongoing issues with feeling weak, especially in the legs and getting dizzy/faint. The obgyn is concerned I'm not getting adequate calorie intake (2200) but that's near impossible after being a Gastric Bypass patient. The baby is doing fine, although I haven't gained any weight yet. I'm eating constantly, not always the most nutritious, but I do eat. Depending on how busy I am with work, I get my water in, sometimes early sometimes late. I know I have a lower blood pressure than normal, and I also know this is a common symptom in the second trimester.
Could it be a lack of a vitamin, a blood sugar problem, the calorie intake, blood pressure? I'm so lost and so stressed out because it's affecting my work. I'm a sales clerk and stand on the floor, but rest and sit whenever possible. It seems like if I stand for 10 minutes & carry on a conversation with a customer I'm guaranteed to go weak in the knees, dizzy, my head gets real hot, & I go pale. I have to sit immediately. I just want to be able to function again. I'm so tired of this problem, I want it fixed!
Is anyone else going through this? Or have any ideas, suggestions or advice??
Thanks so much!
Sabrina

I have the same issue with blood pressure being my issue. Its too low at that time. The doctor has me drinking one glass of ice tea a day to help raise the pressure some. It has worked out pretty well. As well as having some candy available for dizzy times. I eat one reeces peanut butter cup and that helps a ton. Also little issue with blood sugar dipping. So I would talk to doc about things to try. This has worked pretty well for me so far though! Good luck!!

Sabrina,
Without being a medical professional, it sounds like a combo of issues. Dehydration can cause a lot of the same symptoms.
I would suggest labs for glucose, potassium, B12, B1(thiamin), iron and a urine test for ketones. Rule things out one at a time.
Easier said than done, but attempt eating small snacks throughout the day to maintain BSL. Complex carbs will tide you over longer and won't cause a great fluctuation in your BSL. Potatoes with a sprinkle of sea salt can also help with BP. Carry a bag of peanuts in your pocket, or some granola clusters, something you can quickly munch if you're feeling ill.
Also, though I'm sure you already know this, stand slowly to avoid a rush and don't lock your knees when standing.
Good luck and I hope you find relief and answers soon!
