Crystal Light when pregnant?

Ok, so I'm not a big water drinker and was wondering if I drink 1 20 oz water mixed with Lemonade Crystal Light (and 2-3 packets of Splenda to sweeten it a bit) a day if that's ok during my pregnancy.   I looked on babycenter.com and it says it's ok to have asparatame, splenda, and some other type of artificial sweetner in moderation during your pregnancy.  Is once a day "in moderation" do you think?    It's just an easier way for me to get my water in for the day if I do the CL Lemonade, even if it's 32-40 oz a day (and not the reccomended 64 oz) when I do "get" it in!!

Hi Christie....

I did it my whole pregnancy to help ge****er in and my OB said it was fine and all went well...I LOVE Raspberry Lemonade and drink it all of the time still....it totally helps me get my water in...I drank 32 ounces during a one hour meeting today and I would never do that with straigh****er :)

Hugs,

Ann

I'm also not a very good water drinker. But my whole pregnancy I lived on crystal light and other types of drinks made with sweeteners. My OB actually told me not to have more than 4 oz of real juice a day because of the sugar/calories so I wasn't left with much choice.

I drink the Kirkland/Vita Rain sf vitamin waters and caffeine free diet coke every day.  I'd NEVER get my fluids in without them.  Oh, that and my Venti decaf, Skinny Vanilla latte at Starbucks!  Hey, gotta get it in somehow...

Fluids are a huge struggle for me, I vary in what I want (sounds good) but they all are diet.  So, if I am not having water (maybe 1 bottle a day)...the rest is diet.  Though because my urine was super strong last time I have been forcing plain water (barf) but that is because I don't have time to get to the store for the Crystal Light.  Before RNY I drank Large amounts of water and now I struggle.  But I also watch how much tea I have (because I could easily drink cups and cups of tea) but I have a history of kidney stones and pregnancy puts me at higher risk.  Last time I was 4 - 6 weeks post delivery when I had a kidney stone episode ( I was thankful it was after at least I could get  treatment!).  My DD is healthy and happy- and I lived on diet drinks.

Hi.  Lemonade Crystal Light has a kinda nasty taste that needs to grow on you.  Try Fruit Punch flavor, it's much better & really good.

Try making your own lemonade with lemons and splenda....pretty yummy. I have a friend that got so frustrated eating out and paying up to $2.50 for tea or soda...so she always asks for water with extra lemon and sweetens it herself with splenda. Good, and cheap...lol Shari

yeah my husband actually does that at restaraunts when he doesn't order soda.   He'll just ask for a plate of lemons and then sweetens it with splenda packets (usually at the table too) to make his own lemonade!   I've tasted it and it's good!   But then I get home and can't sweeten it the right way for some reason.   And lemons aren't cheap either!   So that's why I just buy the Crystal Light Lemonade and then sweeten it with Splenda now.

LOL...I make my own lemonade too when I got out.  I even get fancy and ask for some limes too.

Also...my OB said not aspartame or equal...only Splenda.  The problem is that most of the sugar free drinks are made with aspartame.  I have to amit...I do cheat every now and again.  I did find drinks by SOBE that are naturally sweetened that don't have any artificial sweetners and they are tasty.  However, they are pricey so I catch them on sale.
