I am just 2 days shy of being 7 months postop and just found out that I am pregnant.  I am sooo exicted but very worried at the same time.
What do the doctor's recommend that you do????? I sure don't eat enough now and am wondering how I can carry a healthy pregnancy.  I have had five misscarriages in the past and am just worried that this one will result the same.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Doc just told me to eat every 2-3 hours and add as much carbs as I could. Not over doing it but put them back in. I take 2 prenatals a day, 4 calcium, b complex, prevacid and the b12 shot once a month. So far so good.
This is my 7th pregnancy and I have 2 boys at home. Everything has been pretty good with this little girl its just me this time that has had issues. Just had my gallbladder removed last week actually. Yet she is doing fine.
I always think positive when I am pregnant even though I know I have had many losses. Now in no means does that mean I am not worried all the time but I just make myself think and know that every pregnancy is different and there can be different outcomes. It seems to have worked this time.

Welcome to the board! Congrats! Relax!!!

Thanks so much for your response.  Looks like you are doing well with your pregnancy and that is very encouraging to me. : )

Congratulations.  I'm sure you'll receive lots of input on what to watch out for from several of the pregnant post -WLS mommies (or mommies to be) out here.

Due to your previous history of miscarriages, I'd suggest calling your OB/GYN as soon as possible and letting him/her know you're pg so that they can star****ching things now and hopefully head off any (God forbid) potential problems before they become a problem.  I don't know the drs were able to determine the cause of your previous mcs...but it's worth at least a call to the dr. now.

I pray this is a sticky sticky bean for you...and that you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I got pregnant early too (last time) and all was ok.  I wasn't considered high risk or anything and like you, had some losses in the past.  But that was before WLS.  My son was my first successful pregnancy and we tried for 8 years.  We weren't trying when I got pregnant with him but it happened.
Start taking a prenatal or adding folic acid to your regular vitamins.  Keep up on the rest of your suppliments, by 2nd trimester add 200-300 calories a day (which is easy if you know the right stuff to add) and drink PLENTY of fluids.

I was a weird post-op preggo.  I got pregnant 4 months post-op, only eating 900 calories or so a day, still managed to gain FIFTY pounds, and had a 10.5 lb baby boy.  The ONLY thing was that I never lost another pound after having him except 42 lbs of the pregnancy weight.

Good luck.  Just call your OB and talk with them.  They may feel that there is no concern or they MAY consider you high risk...if they do it just means more visits and probably more ultrasounds to check growth.  And who wouldn't want that!  LOL.

Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  I understand all too well the fear and excitement you are feeling.  I conceived only 1 month post op (despite using BC).  I have 2 health pre-op children, but also had 3 m/c's pre-op as well.  Everett is now 4 months old, health and meeting/exceeding all milestones.

I'm sure you've been given some great advice in the pp's.  This forum is full of inspiration, support and wisdom.  If there's anything I can do to help, please feel free to PM.

Wishing you the very best and I look forward to sharing in your journey!

Hugs,

Jo

I am 3 months pregnant; and I conceived about 4 months after surgery.  I get hungry to eat just about every hour....so I do!

The baby is growing right on track, and everything looks beautiful so far.

There's hope!  You're even farther out than me!  :)

Good luck to you!  Just make sure you eat frequently.  I still don't eat a lot in one sitting, but I definitely get hungry way earlier than i used to....so I just listen to my body.
