Many thanks and a question about breast feeding
After lurking and reading so many posts, I have to say thank you to everyone! I finally feel normal!!!!
Here's a quick little intro...
I am currently 28 weeks pregnant, due 12/7/09. I had lap band surgery 7/3/08 and lost about 60 pounds before finding out I was *surprise!* pregnant in April. I chose to keep my band as is (call me a control freak) and I have managed to gain 8 pounds so far (to my OB's delight!).
Has any post op mom had problems developing an ample supply of milk? This baby is my 2nd. I breast fed my first, and am really looking forward to nursing my 2nd as well... call it crazy preggo brain but for some reason I'm really worried about having enough milk.
Also, pre-pregnancy I was taking a liquid multi vitamin as recommended by my surgeon, but now I'm taking a liquid prenatal vitamin instead. Would it be beneficial for the baby now, or after delivery if I took both vitamin supplements OR is the prenatal enough?

Congrats on a healthy pregnancy this far! I breastfed my daughter, almost exclusively, for 5+ months. I never had an issue with supply. I drank a lot of water, always drank at least 8 ounces every time I fed her, I kept up on my eating and vitamins. I let Libby eat when ever she was hungry, instead of saying "no, it hasn't been 3 hours yet" or something silly like that ( I have a friend that did that, whoa!!). I also let her suck for 20-30 min on each side, and that got to be less with time. I had one side that produced twice as much as the other but never had a problem with supply all around.
PS My favorite nurse in post partum was named Twinkle Toes and Two Shoes. She actually wore two different shoes every day (the ones with those big ol' springs). We have gone back to see her since we were discharged just because she was so awesome! :-)
