Just My (Expletive) Luck!

Hi Ladies--

Background: For those of you who don't know, I really have a STRONG dislike for Babies R Us. Always have had this dislike for them as a customer, but I reluctantly registered there because that is where one is basically "expected" to register and because we have relatives all over the country and it is national, blah, blah, blah. I figured I could "grin and bear it" for a short while. I have to say, I had the lamest registry list ever....like 20-something items. Friends and family were on my ass to add more items...but honestly, I didn't see the point in registering for items I didn't want/need/like just for the sake of having more things on the registry. Most of my good friends know I don't like BRU so they specifically asked what I would like as shower gifts and went out and bought it elsewhere. Many of the items for the baby came from other places (nursery bedding, clothing,  etc.) because they weren't available at BRU.

So, my baby shower was this past weekend and I received several BRU gift cards. There were two big ticket items I wanted to purchase there: A Medela Freestyle Breastpump and a crib mattress. So, given the fact that I also had 15% off coupons for each of those items, I decided to go today and get them before the coupons expire. Luckily, I got the very last Freestyle pump left in the store and only paid $322 instead of the $380 original price. I also picked up f few miscellaneous items that struck my fancy. In total, the items came to over $600. Thank goodness had the coupons and giftcards to help ease the final cost.

So, fast forward to dinner....my husband and I are eating at our dining room table and the box holding the breastpump is on the table. (I wanted to show it to him since I was so excited to finally get it.) In pointing out the pictures & info printed on the box, I notice the sticker seal on the top of the box is broken--so, I bought an opened-box breastpump. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed! I feel like there is now a burden on me to not only return it...but to prove that I was not the one who tampered with it. Quite frankly, I don't need the aggrivation and I'm so mad I'm spitting nails. I have not opened the box at all (even though I know the seal is broken), so I don't know if all the parts are there or what.

I'm just going to hope and pray that when I return it (tomorrow) I get a manager in a good mood and I can keep my cool. If not, there just may be a clip at 11:00. Will post my results tomorrow.

Ugh...this is not making me like BRU one bit.

I used the freestyle with Nick - absolutely loved it, though I did not care for the rubber straps. At any rate, I just wanted to suggest that if you can't get it returned to BRU, I would try to call Medela....they have wonderful customer service. The motor in mine went out and they sent out a new one overnight no charge.

Hopefully BRU will accomodate you since you are exchanging it for an unopened box. I can understand their problem if you were trying to return it for cash...

I just wanted to say that I used the Freestyle also...and like the PP Loved it!  I agree with maybe calling Medela!  They were Great!   When I went to steam (with the steam bags for the microwave) one of the tubes was plugged into the other end and had melted during the process!  I called and I had a new tube practically the next day free of charge or shipping!  They were so helpful and got it to me fast so I could continue pumping without having to panic on what I was going to do!
When I bought Aethyn's big boy car seat from BRU when I opened the box and took it out there was a tear in the fabric...I couldn't return it right away because I live a couple hours away, but I did call and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem...and when I went in it was no big deal!  Maybe you could call and ask for a manager and explain it to them, Get a name so when you do go into the store you have all the info and what they told you!

Dude - that happened to me one time and I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed! I believe it was nipple sheilds or something like that - I called the manager immediately and they let me return it for store credit. Fine - what the F ever.

Then another time I bought one of those Baby Bjorn things and when I went to use it  - it smelled like old fried foods - like old fried fish. I returned it and got a brand new one that was sealed in plastic and didn't smell at all.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this!

PS - I miss seeing your avatar too!! I am always so jealous of how glowing you were on your wedding day :)  I was pale and 365 lbs!!! LOL!

Re: my avatar: yes, I was happy on my wedding day....but the Xanax was also contributing to the BIG smile! Good Lord, I love that stuff and I miss it!
