I called today to set up the appt for the early US (per the direction of the OB that saw me though the MC) and was told that I can't even schedule the apt until I am a week late with my period. Just wondering if this was standard practice? I can be patient lol

ETA - I was just trying to call to schedule a 7-8 week appt. They won't even let me schedule that until I am a week late! I'll be calling thursday! lol

My OB likes to wait until about 8 weeks for the first OB work up.  They also don't like to do too many ultrasounds.  Of course, I would like to get one at every appointment....

My OB goes by the date you give them for LMP and calculate 8 weeks out and then schedules the appointment. They say there is no need to come that early, and that they can see better on the US farther along. I know your anxious to see something, but be patient if you wait a little longer you can see more and be a little more reassured. I am so excited for you!

Because of my history... they wanted to see me at 6weeks to do a U/S and make sure everything was going along properly... and then again at 8weeks and we were able to see the baby and the HB better. I will see him again at 12 weeks and then again at 16weeks... My 20week appt will start off the every two week appts because of my family history of early deliveries and premature births... Especially with my mom... as I was 3months early.

I was told because of the past problems and the gastric bypass to schedule asap. I saw mine at like 6 ish weeks. I guess it depends on what your past medical looks like.

I was about 2 weeks out so 6 weeks along. And they checked my levels. If they are over a certain number then they can see the baby. My were so the next day they sent me for an u/s to make sure it was not ectopic. I have been a little demanding since we lost our last one. For the most part my doctors have been great. I have to go 3 weeks until my next appointment this time and it is already killing me. My appointment was Friday.

THanks Ladies! I don't mind waiting until 8 weeks to HAVE the ultrasound (if I must wait! lol) but I would like to get it scheduled. She wouldn't even discuss anything until my period is a week late.

Thanks as always!

I feel twice as crummy as I did last time so I guess that's a good sign! lol Bring on the Morning Sickness!

I was seen the day after I called.  I was brought in for confirmation blood work, then a few days later a repeat series of blood tests.  Then I was in again for appointment to discuss my history, to start progesterone ( mine was dropping) and they did a u/s just to confirm in utero pregnancy, then a few days later another u/s for the growth of fetal pole, then u/s  for heartbeat, then I was sent to MFM to be followed once I hit 10 weeks.  So it varies- but they treated me like gold because of my previous loss- I was there more in the beginning of my pregnancies then at the end. Sending positive thoughts- I know how scary, exciting, and worrisome this can be after a loss.

Years ago when I was pg w/my son...the dr didn't have a date that he required before seeing me....and now I'm in 'special cir****tances' because of where I live - not to mention my issues - so they see me the same day when I get a BFP.  Not helpful, I know...

I'd try to pu**** by talking directly to the dr...see if she'll tell the nurse to get you in earlier.  The worst she'll do is say no, right?
