Almost 1 year post op

Hi All. I am almost 1 year post op so my hubby and I are going to start actively trying to have a baby. I am really excited, but have a couple questions.

If you had problems getting pregnant before surgery and still had problems after, how long after surgery did you have to wait to get fertility drugs? Did your doc want you to try getting pregnant without them first?
I had a miscarriage a couple months ago and I am wondering, if I had been on metformin (I have PCOS) would I maybe not have miscarried, so I am wondering if I should go on metformin. Any thoughts?

Hello there! I am 2 1/2 years post op. Severe PCOS & insulin resistance pre-op. I was told that I would never have Children. MOst OB's want you to try for a year before moving on to meds etc. I went off of BC pills in early January - got pregnant in April - had a blighted ovum and miscarried in June. Just found out again now that I am pregnant.

Hopefully you will find that you have become far more fertile post op!

Thanks Liz. And congrats on being preggers! I am pretty hopeful about being able to get pregnant without drugs (especially since it already happened once). I have an appt. with my OBGYN on 10/1 so I will discuss the fertility drug thing with her too.

Do you still have PCOS now that you're 2 years post-op?

I have it in some form - not as full blown as it was. They did see a small cyst on my ovary last fall when I went for a CAT scan for my gallbladder - haven't been re-checked since then though.
