How easy was it?

This may have been asked before, but please indulge me.  After RNY, I never made it to my personal weight loss goal, and now that I'm pregnant I'm fearful that I won't even be able to make it back to pre-pregnancy weight.

How'd you ladies do with weight loss?

Also, my little one (well, not so little) is expected to arrive at about 9lbs....I'm scared!  For those that had big babies, what was the experience like?

Well my first pregnancy I gained 70 pounds and lost it all in 7 months on Weigh****chers. The second time I also gained 70 pounds and my baby is 5 weeks old this week and so far lost 20, we do weekly weigh in on Mondays here so I will see if it is any more tomorrow it's really hard to lose but determination will get you there.

My first was 8lb 13oz and I had her all natural. No lie it hurt like hell and was in my opinion the worst pain I ever experienced in my life. Second time was also natural and she was 7lb 9oz but was much easier because I knew what pain to expect and I wasn't as nervous. Just expect pain and my advice is to get an epidural if you can.

I did not have them natural by choice both times by the time I got to the hospital it was too late.

I'm one week post partum, during my pregnancy I gained 38 lbs.  As of this morning... I am down 18 lbs.  My LO was 6lbs 12 oz, and I've still got a ton of water retention.

Well my peanut was only 6 lbs 7 oz but as far as weight loss goes it was nto too bad. I gained just shy of 30 lbs and had lost half by the time I left the hospital and the rest by my 6 week check up give/take a pound. I did breastfeed my son as was pretty much on the go from the instant he was born. I actually got below my pre preggo weight and then gained back and now am at the same weight I was before I got preggo...my son turns 2 next month so holding steady!

I haven't had a post WLS baby yet...so can't help w/that part of your question.

My son was 9 lb 12 oz when he was born.  I cannot have an epi because of previous back surgery, so was given demirol...which didn't do a thing for the pain...but did give the added enhancement of puking my guts up while in labor.  The nurse who injected it into the IV wouldn't listen to me that I was going to be sick...and just told me to relax and it'd make the contractions feel like they did in the beginning...and I kept insisting I was going to be sick and she ignored me...and I puked all over the bed, me, the floor, my husband and anything else in the vicinity.  I've never had demirol for anything else, so don't know if that's a 'normal' reaction for it...but I wouldn't do it again.  When/if I get pg again, I'll have a c-section due to uterine surgery a few years ago.

All things said and done...I was w/a friend 2x when she delivered her babies and I saw how many hours actively pushing it took to get her girls delivered (and they were 7 lb and change, each) and I was worried about the delivery for that reason only...but it only took three pushes and my son was there.  Even the dr and nurses were surprised at how fast he was born once I started to push.

I hope you have an easy delivery, whether you decide to go natural or w/an epi...and that your little one is born safe and healthy.

I got pregnant 4 months post op (last time) so I never got down to my goal weight.  But close!  I was 150 when I got pregnant.  I gained 50 lbs (no idea HOW) and my son was 10.5 lbs.  Again, no idea how since I was only eating about 900-1000 calories a day and still losing fat, just not pounds.
I ended up having a c-section as I have a VERY small butt and hips.

I lost 42 lbs within 2 weeks of having him.  I think breastfeeding helped because I could only do it for a few weeks and when I stopped, so did the weight loss.  I stopped at 158 lbs and was 158-160 when I started this pregnancy 1.5 years later.

Hope that helps a little!

Don't fret too much on a 'big baby'.  Those ultrasounds can be off by as much as a pound or two the further along you get.  When I was in labor with my 1st baby my OB estimated (just 20 min before delivery) that she would be "7lb 3oz"...nope...she was a peanut coming in at 6lb 3oz via emergency c-section due to failure to progress (we found later that her head was crooked & she got stuck).  My 2nd baby was estimated to be "way bigger" than my 1st and I was afraid of a 9lb-er because of how big my belly was.  Turned out I had more fluid with this one and she was completely averaged sized at 7lb 12oz.

Anyway...to address post baby weight loss.  It's all on you.  I have to admit to say that I've been lazy with my weight loss.  I gained 30lb with my 1st pregnancy and lost all but 2-3lbs by her 1st birthday.  This time my 2nd child is 9m (well will be in 2 days) and I'm still 15lbs away from my pre baby weight.  I've got no one to blame but myself for this and it's only me that will loose the weight.    If you want to loose the weight badly enough...you'll get it off.

Good luck with your upcoming delivery!  Congrats!!
