Thoughts on Flu/H1N1 Shots for our kids....

TY for your note...what did your doc say...I am very interested....am mostly torn on the H1N1....would love your insight...

My Mom (nurse in a docs office) told me to get both. I have never had the flu or the flu shot. *really hopes the 'puter desk is wood since I just knocked on it* I am still uncertain about the H1N1 but I am leaning towards getting it. From what I have seen I am not at risk for it but as soon as I get preggers my risk is higher. Well, for death from it. I am healthy and pregnancy makes you at a higher risk for death. I will be talking to my OB and my PCP to see what they think.

My mom is a nurse too and has always made sure we got flu shots....so I am sold on them...just more concerned about H1N1....what does your mom say about that? My mom usually endorses everything that the CDC says :)

My mom told me to get it since I am TTC. I know she isn't a big fan of Gardisil (or however it's spelled.) She was never really big on making sure we got flu shots either. This year she is pushing for me to get one.

Gotta love our mom nurses :) My mom has been a big pusher of the shot since it became prevalent for people to take....

We are NOT doing flu shots this year.  I have in the past, but this year will skip them.  Last year we got dreadfully sick after getting the shot.  I KNOW it came fro the shots.  You see, my children have two different pedi offices.  They got their flu shots weeks apart.  Both set of kids got the same sickness after getting the vacs.  And the vacs were far enough apart that is was not just a normal sickness spreading from sibling to sibling.

As far as the H1N1, I have heard firsthand some results of the trials that are currently taking place for this particular vaccine and not for one million dollars would I give it to any of my children. 

Thanks Jen....my DH and I have never had issues with the flu shot and my fear with Nathan being in daycare and his recent diagnosis of asthma I need to do everything I can to protect that....ugh....but yea, the H1N1 has me a little freaked.....

We are great, just busy.  We started school last week.  My plan was to teach the big girls K and then have preschool with N and F.  N decided he wants to do Kinder too.  So far he is keeping up.  Baby H will be 9 months old this week - and my first born turns 5 next week - wow!

Am sure you are an AWESOME teacher too....your kids are incredibly blessed....

Unfortunately we are NOT in the same house yet.....we are waiting on the final paperwork for release....should be soon....but will be worth it if it turns out the way we want...we pray for the right decision.....some days are incredibly harder than others....God really blessed me with a great demeanored little guy....who turned 10 months on Friday...where does the time go????

I hope the weather gets better there...you all have had some crazy weather....
