Oh awesome...I can definitely see you as an AWESOME first grade teacher.....how neat you both are teachers....what a nice commonality...and summers off :) lol

It is a terrible decision to make :( ugh....the more you learn, please share...you always have a lot of good wisdom :)

We will not be getting the shots for ourselves or our children. There is not enough research on the long term effects of the shot.

I will pass on both for myself. THe only time I got the shot was the only time I got the flu. Chris is in customer service (works in the service department of a car dealership) so he will at least be getting his flu shot - not sure about the H1N1 or not. Knowing him he will, infact his job might require it. Last year when he did get the flu (4 days with a 104 fever and YES he had the shot) they wouldn't let him come bac****il he was tested for swine flu)

I think that we need a new pic of the little man to make a proper assesment lol

You are so cute...I am going to post his 10 mos update this weekend and you can assess :)

I was highly encouraged to get a flu shot while preggo.....get ready to get asked :)  I am just torn between H1N1 getting or not....

No for both.

My kids are not high risk as I don't have them in daycare and they are not around a lot of other people and kids.  If my scenario were different, I may have a different view.  For the flu shot only.

The Swine Flu vaccine is another story.  While I realize the vaccine itself has been around for quite some time, the current vaccine they are using has not.   I refuse to give something to my child that has only been on the market in limited testing for a short period of time.   I don't want them to be test subjects.

Also, I got horribly sick from the regular flu shot last year, as did my husband.  So that's another reason for us.

It's really a personal decision.  I wouldn't look down or poorly upon someone for choosing to give their kids the flu/H1N1 vaccines.

Thanks for the info....I am pretty for sure on the flu shot for Nathan with being in daycare full time, around tons of snotty nose coughing kids (lol) and recently being diagnosed with asthma....but am not sold on the H1N1...also, Nathan's one year shots will be around the same time...I may consider asking them to put the MMR off like you are doing....I hope  my doc lets me do that....

personally since i started teaching/working at a university I get the flu shot and thankfully havent had flu in over 3 years.... so I will like always get flu shot..
H1N1 shot I think I will pass this year.

I am wondering tho they mentioned making it available to pg women in the beginning... what to do if my dr wants me to get it if i get pg between now and then..

I am a mess about what to do for my kids. I want them to be safe and I feel like I am putting them in potential danger, regardless of my decision. Today, the doc I work with and I are going to discuss the shots. He has kids also so he said we can chat about his views. And I trust him completely about these things.

Me? I don't know either. They are telling us we have to. But I know we don't HAVE to we can refuse. But I do worry since I am in healthcare. So I will also ask hom about my risks, etc.

I hate decisions like this! LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
