A Rant on a Rainy Thursday
I think that is one of my biggest pet peeves Liz!!! I cannot stand poor customer service! I agree with everyone...just get you some coffee from home...that should solve the problem at least for you they will still be grumpy unhappy rude people but at least they wont ruin your morning!!!
My rant....I am so tired this week...I think I must be anemic or something although I have never had that problem. I go to the doctor next week and I will mention it. It seems as though as soon as i finally fall asleep it is time to get up and go to work...Maybe I am just now hitting that tired part of pregnancy...Any ideas ladies?

I cannot stand bad customer service!! I have been doing customer service for 12 years and I just can't tolerate being treated like crap! I think you should bring the issue up to the store manager and if the manager doesn't rectify the situation (and give you some free stuff to compensate) you should just put in a complaint to the BBB. I just did that for the first time yesterday for the parking ramp that my husband and I use every morning. It's actually really easy and the business has to respond to the complaint. Plus the whole sitting on the counters and handling food after money is a health code violation. Osha would be all over them if they walked in and saw that! I'm really not one for letting things roll off my back especially if it happens day after day. You should let us know what you decide to do!

Hi, I'm Tammy. I lurk here. Not pregnant....used to be a regular a few years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest who is now 3.....
Just wanted to say this. From what I have read of your posts you seem to be a very nice accommodating person so for you to complain about something means that this must really be getting to you and obviously there is a real problem at this DD shop.
Now for my experience.....
I used to work for Starbucks as a barista and my usual spot was the drive thru. I took pride in knowing who my customers were, their drinks, their shoe size, and the name of each of their kids. That was my job. To make each and every customer feel like family and that it made my day to see them, but always in a genuine way, never condescending or fake way. My file was packed full of customer praise comments, excellent reviews for my customer service skills, awards for going the extra mile, etc.
After 2 years I got burnt out. I really did. I swear the Stupid Convention would come to town and meet at Starbucks.
Here is a sampling of what I had to deal with and where I finally snapped and realized that I was a coffee person and NOT a people person.
1) Customer in Drive Thru asks me if iced drinks are cold. I told him to drive to the front of the store and park his car and hand me his keys since he obviously didn't have the IQ points to be operating heavy machinery.
2) Regular customer comes thru my first day back after I had been on medical leave for 3 weeks, and gets pissy cuz I didn't know he had changed his drink order. He starts chewing me out and the next thing I know I'm telling him that I didn't get the memo that he was the most important customer and if he didn't shut up he was going to wear his drink.
3) When you order a skinny drink, you are ordering a drink made with nonfat milk, sf syrup, and NO WHIP CREAM! So don't ask for a Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte and then ***** cuz you really wanted nonfat milk, regular syrup, whip cream, and caramel sauce. What you really wanted is a caramel macchiato with nonfat milk and whip. Know what you want and order right. If you have questions or not sure, ASK...but don't' expect us to a freakin mind reader.
4) Yes, it's my job to be cheerful, friendly, and welcoming. I'm sorry you haven't had your morning coffee yet and it's too much for you. Go to DD. Apparently they understand the concept of not talking to you til you have had your fix.
5) No, I won't compete with your cell phone. You either want to order or you want to talk to your best friend about last night's episode of CSI. Let me know when you are done. Then I will be more then happy to take your order. In the meantime, there are dishes to be washed, coffee to grind, and floors to sweep. Let me get my work done while you are busy and so I don't just stand there eavesdropping on your conversation.
Customer service jobs are HARD! And even the best of us get burnt out and have to walk away before we commit a murder. There is only so many times we can switch you to decaf (or regular) behind your back to get even. LOL

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes. I am out of control and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst...then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ---Marilyn Monroe
OMG I thought it was just my DD that did this! They ask for my order. I order. Then they say "What else?" then I say that's it and they go "Drive up". I never get a total, or anything. when I get there they go 3.49. Then nothing. No have a nice day, nothing. It's very rude. Maybe that's just the way they are? But when I go to the one near me where non- Indian people work, they are sooo nice. Weird.

We must be related Actually, customer service is my biggest pet peeve. My DH and I love to cruise and when you get use to the service on cruise ships and come back to "yeah, what you want", it leaves a lot to be desired.
My husband laughs because he says that's the only time the New Yorker in me comes out, when we're getting bad service. I just don't tolerate it when I'm paying for my meal. I also go overboard in the other direction giving praise to service that is great. (obviously they appreciate the tips more, which I do also)
