So friday is going to be my first (well actually second but first was just confirming) prenatal visit. I am very scared and very nervous. I dont know what to expect and being that I always have to be in control, this worries me. Not to add my fiance cant be with me because we are in two different states. Can anyone help me and tell me some things I can expect (you know besides checking my weight, health history, medications). Thank you all soooo much!

They will probably do a pelvic exam and maybe blood work. When I was pregnant with my first child I used the "What to Expect when you Expecting" book. I loved it. It breaks down what is going on with the baby and some of the thing you can expect at the doctor's visit. I would look for that book or one similar. It really helps. If you have any questions write them down and take them with you, that way when you are in the office you will not forget to ask.

Thanks for your response. I havethe book the pregnancy bible. But I'm still confused as to if anything will change with my appt since I am an RNY patient. Also stuff like are they going to do an ultrasound, heartbeat, stuff like that?

Don't worry too much...

They will weigh you, take your blood pressure, possibly do a urine test.  You may get a vaginal exam.

If you like to be in control then read a lot of baby books and websites like babycenter.com.  You will have more information and feel at ease.
