Question about Heart Rate-- need some mommy's advice!

My mom called me this morning because we had to wait for my Dr. to read the ultrasound.  The tech wasn't allowed to tell me a lot, but as long as I saw the heartbeat I was good.

The gestational date was 7 weeks 4 days, just like I thought, and the baby was "a single live fetus"  but the heart rate was 189!  Is that high for this early?  I know it's good for the baby to have such a strong heartbeat, but that seems really high for 7 weeks.  I need some mommas input until my OB calls me.

Thanks!

Karen

Nope that is totally normal.. and just so you know 189 was the first heartbeat they got with my pregnancy now. Who is also a boy!! His heartbeat went from 189 to the 150's.
faster heartbeats are normal in the beginning!! MY OB told me 189 was a strong healthy HB and that she expected nothing but a healthy happy baby!! Im so happy for you!!! Good luck!!

i would say your fine... its normal for a fetus thats so early to have such a fast heart beat.... their little hearts need to pump more since they are smaller and still have the same job as a bigger heart!.... i think my 12 week one ultrasound was 168...

Mine was high like that at 10 weeks. When I commented on how high it was, I was told that it's normal to be high in the beginning and then at 12 weeks it starts to come down and even out to a rate of 120-160.

Be careful...I worked in healthcare for many years and your mom could get into trouble for looking at family health records if the wrong (or is it right) people found out.  CAREFUL!!

But with that said, it's a tiny bit high but they all are at that age.  Mine are 27.5 weeks and still high (170s +) at times.  And, if they are moving around at all, it can cause their little hearts to work even harder.  I would try not to worry too much!  I know that's easier said than done...been there, done that!  LOL.

LOL thanks I should prob not broadcast that but luckily I am one of her Dr.'s patients so she can retrieve my records, and I signed a waiver thing with the OB's office that she could see my medical info.  I am just glad she can do that sometimes because waiting for Dr's to call you back sometimes is torture!

Oh good!  LOL.  And I agree...if I waited EVERY time I needed info from them, I'd already have had the babies by then!  Glad it's all going well!

lol, your so cute about the pregnancy.  I have had 4 babies and it is perfectly natural for the baby to have a crazy fast hearbeat.. little peeps hearts beat faster than adults..lol  Not to worry and dont get too caught up in the dr mumbo jumbo.. just trust and take good care of yourself and your little blessing will be fine.  enjoy the pregnancy and all the wonderful changes you will go through as your miracle grows... I do miss those days although I am completely done..lol  anytime I can offer advice or help feel free to write me..
Congradulations to you and remember Enjoy......
